This function comprises following areas of result:

Providing daily support in Program management activities

-Application of non-technical standards and best practices in the program (scope, cost, schedule, issue, risk, document, stakeholder management methods)
-Ensure clear scope definition and assess potential scope changes (and necessary approvals within governance boards)
-Facilitate risk and issue management and proper reflection in cost and time buffers (through estimation and probabilistic analysis techniques
-Responsible for keeping the overview of all tasks in the areas of planning and control, risk and issue management, resource management, scope & change management, quality management, benefits management, status reporting, project finance, logistics and signaling (potential) obstacles and problems.
-Making it easy for project teams to do their jobs by reducing bureaucracy Liaising between the different roles in the program team, guarding and enabling program integrity
-Keep close contact with the program team members, to have a good understanding of the program and projects' status.
-Facilitate and guide the program team to come to and remain in an open communication culture, where concerns, issues, risks, etc. can be raised freely in the program team.
-Approach the program members' statements regarding the program in a critical way. Challenge program members in their assumptions and statements.
-Monitor program progress against the approved baselines and highlight deviations and critical paths.
-Guide change assessment exercises, which should ensure that all impacts of a change are thought through.

Creating an anticipative, forward-looking, risk-based attitude in the program team

-Ensuring that decisions are taken by the right people, based on the right information.
-Detecting "scope creeps" as soon as possible, in order to make it visible at a moment where scope changes can still be decided upon. Highlight the "scope creeps" and initiate the necessary change processes.
-Engage people in formulating and committing to forecasts & afterwards review realities versus past forecasts and draw lessons
-Set up and maintain a risk register and action plan to mitigate the risks
-Facilitate and guide risk assessment exercises;
-Control and track the proper execution of the actions defined in the mitigation plan.
