GIS and Hydrology Specialist Position

Spencer Ogden is looking for 10-12 GIS Specialists with a background in water/wastewater design for our client in Tuscaloosa, AL.


The positions advertised below require an array of skills and expertise in GIS, hydrology and software.

Required Skills and experience:
* At least two years of experience working in hydrology or water resources programs
* BS or MS in Physical Geography, Civil Engineering, Hydrology or other water resources related
disciplines
* Understanding of hydrologic hydraulic principles,
* Experience in use of commercial-off-the-shelf GIS (ESRI) suite of desktop, server, and enterprise
level applications, and open source GIS such as GDAL based GRASS and Quantum GIS
* Very good written and oral communication skills
* At least one year of experience developing and presenting training materials
* Must be able to work in a collaborative, team environment
* Individuals must be able to work on their own, but also be actively involved in team efforts,
team meetings, and software development and testing activities with other participants.
Software Engineering staff Position
* At least three years experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining geospatial
software applications
* Demonstrated proficiency in the Python, Java, C and C++
* At least three years experience and demonstrated proficiency on Microsoft and Unix/Linux
computer platforms
* Familiarity with water resources (hydrologic and hydraulic) principles and applied geospatial
information systems
* Experience developing comprehensive documentation for scientific software projects
* Very good written and oral communication skills
* Must be able to work in a collaborative, team environment
* Individuals must be able to work on their own, but also be actively involved in team efforts,
team meetings, and software development and testing activities with other participants.
