The Grid & SCADA Manager is responsible for managing the Grid and SCADA technical teams to deliver technically compliant, cost optimised wind farm solutions to our client's customers in a timely manner. The Grid team is responsible for the end-to-end Grid Connection process, from Connection Application through to R2 Testing. The SCADA team is responsible for designing and implementing wind turbines monitoring and control protocols.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Engineering responsibilities will include all aspects of grid connection from sales stage through to project execution.
  • The team will also support the ANZ Services organisation on technical matters associated with the SCADA systems.
  • Plan, recruit as required, develop and lead the team of Grid Connection Specialists and SCADA Engineers.
  • Provide mentoring and practice leadership for the Grid & SCADA team, and develop the team's technical expertise.
  • Ensure that the Grid & SCADA team meets tendering and project deliverables so that grid and SCADA milestones of the relevant tenders and projects are compliant with the contract, delivered on time, and the associated technical risks are identified, communicated and managed.
  • Ensure that Grid and SCADA designs solutions are optimized for performance and cost.
  • Liaise with grid authorities, partners/subcontractors and clients during tendering and negotiation in all technical matters related to grid, SCADA and balance of plant design and integration.
  • Manage Grid studies and support for customer grid connection applications
  • Review, develop and implement standard and improved engineering practices and to ensure that they are followed.
  • Contribute to the acceptance of the engineering solutions and the approval by the customers by supporting the project managers and the deal team.
  • Provide technical support to the Project and Services teams in relation to SCADA & Grid scope, including SCADA and grid commissioning and testing procedures and compliance requirements.
  • To contribute to the project reviews with technical inputs and strategies.
  • Customer training on technical matters as required for Grid & SCADA

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Sound technical knowledge in Grid and SCADA
  • Strong team and project management capabilities
  • Experience working with AEMO and TNSPs connecting power plants to the Australian NEM.
  • Electrical Engineering Master's degree or above
  • Extensive international experience in the field of power systems.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with wind generation.
  • Strong leadership skills in a multicultural environment and shall have strong negotiating skills.
  • Experience of overall technical assessment of tenders and projects
  • Strong engineering background, ideally from Electrical or Controls
  • Knowledge of Power Systems
  • Strong customer interface experience
  • Experience and focus previously on project delivery
