The Role

The selected candidate will have full autonomy for defining the direction of the Control Room Centre of Excellence. The individual must demonstrate the ability and ambition to define the business strategy in line with the wider company's key objectives. This will entail delivery to ongoing projects related to 'next generation control rooms and also the development of new business opportunities via the identification of new: products, markets and specialisations across the Power & Utilities industry; not only in the UK but also internationally. Collaboration with peers both internally and externally within the industry is key and therefore the selected candidate must be a well-respected and connected professional.

The Responsibilities

*To create a both a long and short term vision/strategy for the Control Room Centre of Excellence
*Lead a high performing team in line with core business objectives.
*Develop the understanding and expertise in new products/solutions relating to Next Gen Control Rooms
*Assist with talent acquisition in line with growth targets
*Ensure maximum staff productivity and allocation within the budget
*Manage financial aspects for the Centre of Excellence including: product pricing, profitability and growth.
*Create an 'idea sharing' work environment with mentoring and coaching schemes that raise creativity and capability
*Establish strong business partnerships, both internally and externally to enable game changing process and solution improvements
*Establish close links with the technology division to create technically cohesive and functionally integrated solutions
*Promote new product development ideas
*Maintain industry relations with public, political and regulatory authorities
*Provide accurate reporting for the performance of the Centre of Excellent to the Executive Management team

The Requirements

*A Master's Degree in an Engineering, Business or Financial discipline or alternatively extensive and appropriate industrial experience with a minimum Bachelor's Degree qualification.
*A minimum 12 years' experience in highly regulated and pressurised control room environments. This includes industries such as: Transportation, Process Engineering i.e. Petrochemicals, Power Generation, Utilities, or Manufacturing & Production
*It would be highly beneficial to have a throughout understanding of the UK and International Power & Utilities industries i.e. experience working in Control Rooms of operational Power Plants (Thermal, Nuclear etc.
*A strong technical & commercial track-record in: control rooms, real-time systems i.e. SCADA, Instrumentation & Control i.e. PLC, Telemetry, Industrial Networks, IOT solutions and Alarm Systems.
*A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Management capacity, leading diverse teams
*Previous P&L responsibility (directly responsible for at least £1m of annual revenue)
*Experience creating strategic solutions in a Consultancy environment is also desirable
*Regarded in the industry as a specialist in Control Room Design, IOT technologies, and End-to End Solutions
*An entrepreneurial, positive and ambitious attitude to work
