Role:
· Manage all grid-related elements for the entire project from development through to installation and commissioning of assets.
· Advise on the relevant legislation and regulations that would impact the project’s grid connection strategy and connection to the onshore network.
· Participate in consultations with BEIS, Ofgem, NGESO and other stakeholders in the framework of the on-going work related to the OTNR.
· Analyse potential connection options, associated costs, potential impacts on the programme and associated risks.
· Manage the relationship with the key players of the interconnection process and lead application calls with NGESO and TOs.
· Monitor associated grid costs and charges and input to the financial modelling of the project.
· Monitor and manage grid connection risks in relation to changes in the design, consenting, and project programme.
Requirements:
· Bachelor or master's in electrical engineering or related discipline.
· Previous experience at a high level in a similar role.
· In-depth knowledge of the offshore wind energy industry and UK transmission system.
· Experience of development and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects.
· Established relationships with ESO & TO is highly desirable

The successful candidate will work closely with the clients Investment Team to provide grid-related advice and services on existing and new investment opportunities throughout the development cycle and across multiple technologies, including onshore and offshore wind, solar and energy storage. In the clients current development pipeline of onshore wind projects, there is a significant value-add opportunity to provide strategic advice and to help maximise success for the connection of projects. My client is currently looking for an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join and expand their Grid Team, working alongside the Grid Development Manager. The client is a renewable energy IPP company with fully integrated development capabilities and it's head office in London. The main focus is developing renewable energy power plants across the United Kingdom with the help of their highly experienced management team and partners to allow them to deliver quality, bankable renewable power assets. Their focus is on the development of large-scale solar, wind and hybrid energy storage projects. Role: In this role you will be working closely alongside the grid manager, and if required the key management team members and land acquisition team. Supporting the Grid team in identifying and securing grid capacity both on the distribution level and national transmission level from 11kV up to 400kV network for its large-scale solar, wind and BESS projects. Candidates must be residents of Iowa or Wisconsin.What You Will Do: Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to plan, implement, and support distribution grid programs, projects, and initiatives using various platforms, including: SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System)OMS (Outage Management System)DERMS (Distributed Energy Resources Management System)FLISR (Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration)VVO/VVC (Volt-VAR Optimization and Volt-VAR Control) Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop recommendations for enhancing operating tools, situational awareness, and overall distribution system performance and reliability. Collaborate with field operations, engineering, IT, and transmission partners to provide long-term grid operations support, including electric and gas distribution system strategy, analysis, implementation, operation, and maintenance of complex technology systems. Maintain the data necessary for ADMS, DERMS, and other power system platforms. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to rectify errors between systems and provide feedback on recurring issues for new project analysis and scoping. Develop an understanding of customer needs and expectations and propose solutions for moderately complex issues. Participate in identifying and solving problems within the assigned area of responsibility with guidance from a supervisor. Apply governmental and organizational engineering standards, interpret policies, and exercise discretion and judgment in resolving moderately complex problems. Demonstrate critical thinking and communication skills necessary for developing recommendations that offer technically sound and cost-effective solutions to specific problems. Education Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in an engineering program accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission is required. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree is preferred. Required Experience: 2+ years of related engineering experience.
