Head of IT - Gloucester

Spencer Ogden are currently working with a key client, seeking an experienced Head of IT/Technical Director to join their Head Office based in Gloucester.

You will be accountable for all aspects of Infrastructure and Desktop team management, architecture, delivery, continuity, and support for the business.

Demonstrating an expert understanding of highly-available and scalable on premise and cloud based infrastructure and desktop solutions, you will lead a team of experts to capture and analyse requirements, define architectures, deliver against high level and low level designs, and provide guidance to other Technology teams in their architecture definitions and systems implementations

Your day to day responsibilities will include the following:

- Manage the Technology Operations team including recruitment, induction, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, absence and cover management, and attrition

-Act as a trusted leader, advisor, coach and mentor to all members of the Infrastructure and Desktop teams, striving to help a diverse group individuals to be the best that they can be

-Manage all third party engagement, contracting and negotiation, knowledge transfer (of our requirements of them), performance management and team integration, for all Infrastructure and Desktop third party delivery requirements

-Contribute all aspects of Infrastructure and Desktop strategy to the overall Technology strategy
Lead the definition and implementation of an Infrastructure and Desktop architecture and roadmap using key elements of the TOGAF model, taking into account Technology Operations leading practices, Technology strategy, Business Applications strategy and regulatory requirements

-Lead the definition and implementation of a high-availability approach to infrastructure continuity, in line with Technology strategy, with a concrete set of non-functional requirements per system / user segment

-Lead the definition and implementation of an Infrastructure and Desktop service model using key elements of the ITIL framework, updating our service SLAs, quality standards, policies, management tools and procedures to reflect this

In order to be successful you will need experience in the following:

- Hands on, up to date experience of defining infrastructure and technology strategies and approaches

- Hands-on experience of implementing the ITIL framework and leading practices in service management

-Hands-on experience of implementing the TOGAF model in defining the Technology Layer of an enterprise architecture

- Multiple full cycle Software Development Lifecycle managed implementations

- Multiple Agile implementation contributions

- Specific essential technology exposure to the following:
*Vmware vSphere and SRM or equivalent
*Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp or equivalent
*Microsoft Windows Server or equivalent
*Microsoft Exchange or equivalent
*Microsoft SQL or equivalent
*Oracle or equivalento HP Blades and HP 3PAR SAN or equivalent
*Cisco Network Infrastructure or equivalent
