A unique and exciting opportunity has become available for a Health & Safety Advisor to join the engineering department of a prominent and highly regarded UK rail maintenance company. Reporting to the Rolling Stock Production Manager, this position will oversee and coordinate various safety related activities and initiatives to ensure that all rolling stock maintenance work is undertaken in a safer manner and in with accordance company procedure and relevant legislative requirements. The post holders may be required to undertake some shift and weekends.

In brief summary, the post holder will ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experience as set out below.

  • Will hold the NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent at a minimum and Tech IOSH or working towards;
  • Not less than 2 years' experience working in a similar demanding safety role within rail, maintenance, heavy plant or other related industry sector;
  • Knowledge of relevant safety legislation and codes of practice with the ability to implement and develop standard operating procedures; and
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and inspire staff at all levels of the organisation.
