The HSE Coordinator provides regional support for the company's HSE management system to both management and field staff. Provides leadership in implementation, development and administration of safety practices, policies and training through various methods.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  • An Associates Degree (2 year) or higher in Safety, Engineering or related technical field
  • PEC Safeland Trainder OSHA 500 and ASP/CRSP a plus
  • Two years experience in oil and gas industry practices, regulatory agency requirements and industry standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. This position is required to speak effectively before groups of local management, clients, subcontractors and/or employees of the organization
  • Excellent computer skills required. Must have experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Use of basic reasoning, thinking "on your feet," and ability to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction from a superior. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format. Good negotiating skills. Ability to make good judgments and render good decisions

  • Conduct regular HSE inspections of company facilities to ensure they meet company and regulatory compliance. Document inspections and assist management in developing corrective action plans. Follow up on completion of action plans
  • Perform regular HSE compliance audits on client's rigs for company's cementing pumping, wireline or completion operational services
  • Implement assigned responsibilities as outlined in the HSE Work Plan
  • Coordinate training of employees, including new hire orientations, on HSE requirements to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Provide requirements for PPE inventory including research of new/additional equipment as required
  • Communicate safety standards to workers at work sites to ensure compliance with Company, Government Legislation and Industry Standards

  • Manage and support safety meeting processes, both at facility and at field work sites
  • Assure required HSE reporting is completed on time and accurately
  • Lead HSE risk assessment initiatives at facility and work sites, including supporting JSA process in the field
  • Maintain facility/site Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) files
  • Manage facility/site Waste Management Plan that include files and records
  • Maintain facility/site Chemical Inventory List
  • Coordinate operational emergency care
  • Conduct facility/site Emergency Response Plan drills
  • Ensure industrial hygiene compliance plans are in place and executed to prevent employee exposures. Maintain industrial hygiene records
  • Monitor decibel levels and determine potential noise hazards along with coordinating hearing conservation program (annual testing)
  • Works with high integrity and complies with corporate guidelines on business ethics
  • Develops and maintains relationships and communication channels with assigned business units
  • Assure compliance with Storm Water, Air and Water permits where required
  • Maintain and update necessary certifications and training as deemed necessary by the Regional HSE
  • Assist in maintaining, tracking and trending of safety statistics
  • Monitor the Permit to Work, Job Hazard/Safety Analysis (JHA/JSA), Observation Card process and all other company initiated systems, maintain, and continually improve the effectiveness of these programs
  • Attend all HSE meetings, and be prepared to present at any other required venues as deemed necessary by the Regional HSE Manager
  • Maintain a clear path of communication with all field personnel assisting as needed
  • Assist line management with investigating and reporting of industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares incident reports

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside and is frequently exposed to oil and gas industry operational hazards e.g. H2S, noise, chemicals, hazardous energy, exposed and moving mechanical equipment and driving. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas. Required to work on a 24 hour call basis. Travel requirements for this position could range between 40 to 60% of the time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop or kneel. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires that you will walk the job site, climb ladders, climb stairs and walk on uneven ground. Position will require applicant to spend time on drilling sites.
