Instrument / Electrical Engineer
Bay City
JOB PURPOSE: Provide engineering, design, and management for projects
of various sizes, primarily at the Bay City Plant. Occasional support for the
Bishop site will also be required.
PRIMARY DUTIES: Lead technical design of Instrument/Electrical projects,
conforming to applicable codes and standards Manage small projects re-
lated to plant reliability improvements Stewardship and technical review
of Safety Instrumented Systems Perform technical review of instrumented
systems designs and modifications Work closely in a team atmosphere
with various functional roles in the routine and non-routine repair of instru-
mentation, analyzers, and electrical equipment Perform root cause analysis
of failed components Preliminary economic evaluation of cost reduction or
revenue generation project opportunities Provide technical assistance to
Operations and Maintenance personnel Define and utilize (or have desi-
re to lean) mathematical models, evaluate experimental or plant data, and
recommend solutions to process control problems using this data Provide
support as required for troubleshooting existing process control applications
Support the process control group as necessary to implement new analog,
digital and supervisory process control strategies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 3+ years of relevant work experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Strong desire to work in a
leading edge industrial environment with a strong focus on safety, reliabi-
lity and efficiency Knowledge of process instrumentation including pro-
cess monitoring devices, control valves, and/or distributed control systems
Knowledge of performing functional checks Ability to multitask and hand-
le multiple simultaneous assignments Ability to work as a self-directed indi-
vidual Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with
other groups such as Construction and Operations General computer skills
such as Microsoft Office Knowledge of preventative maintenance system
and their administration Ability to work in a team based environment Abi-
lity to lead a team towards a common goal.
8+ years of relevant experience Knowledge of ladder and function block
logic and workings of Safety Instrumented Systems SAP experience, spe-
cifically project systems (PS) module Team building and networking skills
Knowledge of low and medium voltage power distribution Knowledge of
basic process control fundamentals Knowledge of Emerson DeltaV Basic
Process Control System and/or DeltaV SIS.
