Lead Rivers & Coastal Engineer

 

As Lead Engineer, Rivers & Coastal you will join our established UK & Ireland Water team and be an integral part of the growth and development of the company UK & Ireland Water Business, focused on our rivers and coastal business within our Flood and Public Infrastructure Sector.

 

The Lead Engineer will ensure sufficient rigour in technical delivery, client relationship development and team growth to meet our business targets. You will be responsible for leading our engineering practice in rivers & coastal across UK&I, and supporting globally.

 

The Role:

 

Reporting to the UK & Ireland Sector Lead for Flood and Public Infrastructure, you will be responsible for the growth and delivery of rivers and coastal services. You will:

 

  • Technically lead and direct our larger/strategic projects.
  • Lead the delivery of high quality engineering designs.
  • Lead D&B and Contractor led delivery teams.
  • Take an active role in the strengthening of our teams, in particular coastal.
  • Bid and win work, identify and gain traction in elements of client programmes with significant potential for growth or long-term profitable pipeline.
  • Work with the company delivery teams to grow net service revenue to agreed levels and margin year on year offer, actions for growth.
  • Provide leadership into a positive culture in delivery teams, reward best practice, ensure compliance with processes/systems and H&S culture.
  • Be acquainted with innovative practices and our technical expertise to form the strongest possible offer to our clients.

 

Required/Essential Skills & Experience

 

  • Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid- large-size projects.
  • Leads technical client relationships and plays a major role in selling.
  • Leads discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise.
  • Leads technical business development work.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Approves and signs off on work.
  • Leader in one or more areas of technology.
  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule a to meet requirements on large, complex projects.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • A degree or equivalent in a related engineering subject (e.g. civil, water resources, coastal) and/or a background with evidence of strong delivery success.
  • Membership of a relevant professional chartered institute; for example, ICE.
  • Demonstrable ability to coordinate, liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Significant experience in the technical delivery and of large scale infrastructure (ideally rivers and/or coastal) projects with multi-disciplinary knowledge.
  • Significant experience in the delivery of designs for Rivers and/or Coastal schemes.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver flood and/or coastal schemes.
