- Mechanical Commissioning Technician Under general supervision, to perform a variety of commission, troubleshoot and repair of a variety of mechanical equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, pipe work and ancillaries, engines, turbines and compressors. To demonstrate a full understanding of all applicable policies and work methods associated with assigned duties to commission and maintain mechanical equipment and to perform other duties as required. Duties and Responsibilities Include the following; · Communicate clearly and precisely and follow oral and written instructions. · Understand the need for and adherence to the Permit to Work and Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures and follow safe working practices. · Have a sound knowledge in the function and use of various test equipment to perform condition monitoring on machinery during commissioning. · Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project drawings such as General Arrangement Drawings, vendor manual and schematics etc. · Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project documentation such as the MC/PC Procedure, Tagging Procedure, Punchlist Procedure, As Built Procedure, Vendor Manuals etc. · Perform Pre-commissioning inspection checks on equipment, machinery, package units, steam boilers, HVAC, deck machinery, safety/fire-fighting and systems. · Perform first fill activities, including lube oil, process fluids as directed. · Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow workers and vendors. · Assist in providing training for less experienced personnel. · Good timekeeping practices. Rotating Equipment · Perform Pre-commissioning inspection checks on rotating machinery and package units. · Carry out coupling alignment on rotating machinery either by laser, reverse indicator or rim and face. Marine · Carry out P&ID line walks marine system to verify completion of the system. · Ability to supervise workers to assist in commissioning. · Perform Load testing of all davits, cranes and material handling equipment. Topsides/Turret · Carry out P&ID line walks process system to verify completion of the system. · Understanding of flange management and bolt tensioning. Knowledge Of; · Permit to Work system. · HSE policies and completion management systems. · Mechanical theory, work methods, tools and testing equipment used in the commissioning of Oil & Gas Facilities. · Installation procedures. · Understanding of P&ID's. · Rotating machinery, gas compressors and gas turbines. · Marine and steam systems. · Turret systems. · Hydraulic systems. Senior Technicians shall have minimum five years of relevant industrial experience, in in oil and gas or petrochemical industries, this must include extensive previous commissioning experience on FPSO projects. They will be fully conversant with the applicable National / International Codes and Standards.
