We are seeking a Staff Estimator with a Mechanical industry background who will be responsible for preparing all levels of estimates and proposals for various construction projects. This position requires experience with cost estimating procedures, as well as the ability to analyze historical data and identify cost trends to support cost reduction and process improvement efforts. The Staff Estimator will work closely with clients, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, and other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lump sum bids, proposals, unit costs, and quantities for various construction projects.
  • Consult with clients, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Analyze historical data and provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
  • Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
  • Review completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
  • Review subcontractor and small and disadvantaged business solicitations and evaluations.
  • Assemble material and labor costs for clients and proposals for construction projects.
  • Conduct subcontractor and small and disadvantaged business solicitation and pre-qualification tasks.
  • Prepare and deliver bid packages to subcontractors.
  • Conduct subcontractor labor and market studies and make recommendations based on those results.
  • Develop project summary schedules.
  • Evaluate and condition subcontractor and supplier quotes. Develop and present estimating strategy and plan.
  • Provide preliminary pricing for indirect and general conditions.
  • Evaluate fee, contingency, and escalation and make recommendations.
  • Review plans and specifications for risk issues and propose a mitigation strategy.
  • Review commercial terms and conditions with legal counsel for cost and risk items and present concerns to lead estimator.
  • Analyze and price value engineering for submission.

Requirements:

  • Must have Mechanical industry background.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field, and a minimum of four years of direct project estimating experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Software such as Quotesoft, Accubid, Oracle, and PowerBI desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, various construction disciplines, cost control systems required.
  • Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare complex proposals with minimum supervision.

Job Title: Project Manager - Land DevelopmentSalary Range: $120,000-$140,000 per yearLocation: Denver, Remote opportunities available for the right candidate.Responsibilities: Develop project work plans and scopes of work.Provide project oversight and schedule monitoring.Prepare fee proposals, track and manage project budgets and invoicing.Prepare roadway, grading, drainage, water, and sewer plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.Produce project deliverables including technical memoranda, design plans and specifications, and technical reports.Administer quality assurance for project deliverables.Prepare supporting calculations, construction specifications, and permitting in various jurisdictions.Prepare construction cost models and engineer opinion of probable cost for projects through various stages of development including due diligence to final construction document submittal for bidding.Manage and design development and redevelopment projects for private clients.Partner with other Horrocks practice leaders to assist on multi-disciplinary project pursuits.Maintain effective communications with clients and project teams.Conduct technical reporting and presentations.Observe construction and coordinate with contractors.Ensure that the staff resources are deployed in a productive and profitable manner.Conduct regular meetings to ensure that project needs are balanced with staff availability. Qualifications: Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering.Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE within one year.Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience with an emphasis in civil design including drainage, utility, roadway, and development design.Experience with drainage and utility reports.Experience working with both private and municipal clients.Strong industry relationships and an understanding of municipal, state, and federal criteria.Significant experience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal policies, programs, and procedures.A self-directed practitioner with strong project management and project delivery skills.Ability to supervise staff, bid projects, and develop project execution plans and technical deliverables.Outstanding client and personnel skills and the ability to persuasively communicate at all levels.Technical expert with outstanding team building, writing, proposal development, cost estimating, and program execution skills.Must be able to work effectively as a team leader in a group environment and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients.Organized and detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, StormCAD, WaterCAD, HEC-RAS, SWMM, and Urban Drainage and Flood Control software.
