Title: Casting Metallurgist Engineer

Location: Yeovil main site + Travel to EMEA (Expenses paid)

Rate: £51.28 per hour

Contract Duration: up to 2 years

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for dealing with all technical aspects of our clients casting business and suppliers of castings in EMEA as well as some casting sites globally.

You will be part of the Global Materials Engineering organization supporting the needs of the Aerospace Design Engineering, Advance Technology, Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), Global Sourcing, Transitions and Repositioning, and site support as well as support of Aerospace global design activity, and support of global overhaul and repair sites as needed.

Industry technical design guidelines and solidification modeling, non-destructive tests such as FPI, X-ray and CT Scanning and destructive tests such as metallography and mechanical testing will be used to validate casting processes and product quality.

In this role you would be responsible to develop casting process techniques capable to produce castings to meet drawing and metallurgical requirements including microstructures, mechanical properties, NDT requirements, and dimensional requirements.

You also would be responsible for obtaining fixed process approval from our clients design sites. Supporting manufacturing engineering and quality team to develop internal procedures and quality system based on aerospace requirements AS9100, etc….

This role also works with a quality team to obtain all the required customer and Nadcap certification approvals including Casting, NDT, HT, and MT.

Other responsibilities include specification maintenance, process documentation, approval of suppliers and casting components, conducting maintenance audits to ensure specification and process compliance, support determination of Root Cause and Corrective Action associated with process escapes, and identification of producibility opportunities and cost reduction.

Required Experience
*Around 5 years working experience with Directionally Solidified (DS) and Single Crystal (SX) process preferred.
*Candidates with hands-on experience in investment castings, solidification and casting simulation software (Pro-Cast, MagmaSoft, etc) will be preferred.
*Preference for candidates with experience in metal casting industry and casting design.
*A distinct advantage would be attributes with the ability to be able to manage projects of varying complexity.
*Strong oral and written attributes is essential at all levels in order to successfully drive compliance, provide process development, process enhancements and design improvements at Honeywell sites and Honeywell's supplier base in Europe.
*Experience and good understanding of NADCAP, auditing, AS9100 and other aerospace processes and requirements.

Other Requirements
*Bachelors' Degree with specialization in Material Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy or equivalent.
*All successful candidates will have to undergo drug screening before they start, and provide a negative result.
*Must complete a Disclosure Scotland Criminal Recorded Check before starting on site.
*The ability to travel will be required in order to meet the business needs. At least 50% of the time spend outside the Yeovil office.
