Spencer Ogden are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with a background in electrical and metering design to be based near Gillingham Kent.
The Design Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support/advice to our clients metering business. You will be working on several key projects where you will assess the design of metering projects for High Voltage Electricity metering market in accordance with current legislation, regulations and client specifications.
The position will focus on the electrical, instrumentation and communication system elements of the design.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / TASKS
-Lead internal and external personnel in the design of metering system solutions.
-Lead client engagement to finalise and resolve technical design queries.
-Create design packs for 3rd party approval and appraisal including data sheets, calculations, specifications, risk registers etc to support design.
-Project ownership from tender to delivery for the management of the design and delivery of with a focus on metering and communications
-Liaise and assist the Project Manager to manage the project from order handover to completion.
-Manage and liaise with Clients, 3rd party suppliers and contractors to successfully implement projects on time and in budget.
-Liaise with all parties to ensure smooth delivery, produce risk and method statements and commissioning documents
-Ensure commissioning and Installation modification are reflected into as built documentation packs.
-Provide technical support to Clients and operation staff in the ongoing use and maintenance of delivered systems.
-Site works: Perform site tasks as necessary e.g. commissioning / SAT.
-Requires UK Travel.
-AutoCAD experience and be able to produce General Arrangements, Wiring Schemes and Wiring
-Diagrams for Client and Workshop use is essential.
-Experience of Electrical instrumentation and control systems with a focus on electricity metering systems.
-Strong understanding of the ELEXON requirements of Code of Practice Metering systems.
-Strong understanding of the products and services available, as well as the customers' and potential customers' drivers.
-Proven track record of design and delivery of electrical and instrumentation systems
-Understanding of the end-to-end process for delivering requirements of customers
-Experience in providing project support to all major company contracts and ensuring company maintains regulatory compliance along with 3rd party accreditation; BS EN ISO 9001: 2008, BS EN ISO 14001:2004
-Good understanding of QA and LEAN processes in industry.
-B Eng Hons degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline
-Relevant Electricity industry training and qualifications
- Elexon COP1, COP2 , COP4 etc
-Knowledge of Electricity metering equipment configuration and supporting software
-Experience of working in the Environment of High Voltage Electricity Substations.
CDM training Hands on and remote support experience
