Monday-Friday, 37.5 hrs per week (flexible start/finish times)


My client is a market leading manufacturer of cleaning and household care products, who export their products on a global scale. They require Microbiology and Quality Technician to join their new facility in Greater Manchester.

The role would be suit a Science Graduate with practical experience of microbiological techniques (either as part of their degree or in a working laboratory).

Main responsibilities

* Conducting microbiological testing of finished products and relevant associated samples ensuring they comply with the required specification and GLP.
* Collecting samples and preparing media according to the demands of the day.
* Ensuring that batches which exceed the specified limits will be assessed, monitored and actioned as appropriate.
* Maintain testing equipment and reagents, ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the appropriate standard.
* Conducting data analysis and evaluation of existing process to identify areas for improvement
* Driving initiatives and change for improved cleaning and sanitation processes on site, in line with schedule and follow up non conformities
* Leading by example regarding attitudes towards product quality and hygiene
* Completing all associated administration duties such as spreadsheets, associated filing and distribution of batch status reports and answer specific e-mail queries.
* Monitoring site hygiene and advising on matters concerning equipment hygiene
* Providing microbiological facility for new formulations to ensure that they are tested within the appropriate guidelines.
* Supporting any project work undertaken by the group microbiologist, as required
* Taking responsibility for approval of finished stock on the SAP system.


Candidate Requirements:

* Scientific degree with significant practical microbiology content
* Experience of interpreting and evaluating microbiological results
* Self-motivated and pro-active, with a willingness to learn
* Confident, with good communication skills and a positive approach to solving problems
* Driven and unafraid to challenge convention
