You will be:

A Multi-skilled Engineer with experience in an FMCG environment, able to carry out planned predictive and re-active maintenance of plant

Key-Result areas/ assessment areas:

* To carry out planned predictive and re-active maintenance of machinery and equipment across site
* To carry out workshop duties such as machine repairs and component manufacture
* To re train in new methodology, technology and engineering techniques as the business needs arise
* To train others in the maintenance of site wide machinery and equipment

Key objectives

* Efficient diagnosis and correction of electrical and mechanical faults across site
* Installation and commissioning of all new and repaired machinery and equipment
* Assist Manufacturing with machinery adjustments, changeovers and set up
* Machine performance improvements and reduction of downtime through your own ideas and input
* Take an active role in the Health and Safety requirements on site on behalf of the Engineering Department
* Be able to work unsupervised when tasked to do so and to organise the work of others in response to the site needs
* Manage and support the activities of all engineering contractors when they are on site
* Produce and maintain documents relating to the administration of all engineering tasks
* To adhere to Company policies and procedures
* The job holder is required to do all tasks considered as relevant by his line manager


* An Engineering Apprenticeship plus relevant qualifications (City & Guilds, HNC, NVQ) in either Electrical or Mechanical discipline
* Electrical training and ability to prove competency in machine isolation and electrical safety. Safe panel entry to identify and reset faults
* Correct use of electrical test equipment. Experience of fault finding on AC/DC Motors, process and packaging machinery and their associated control systems, PEC registration systems, coils, micro-switches
* Mechanical training and ability to prove competency in machine isolation and stored energy systems. Experience of fault finding on process and packaging machinery including compressed air, hot and cold systems, process pipework, gear boxes, chains, cams, rollers, bearings and bushes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Steam generating plant and boiler maintenance, steam and condensate recovery systems
* Basic welding skills and machining skills


* Safety Driven
* Able to work unsupervised and on own initiative
* Ability to quickly diagnose and correct faults
* Able to strip machines in full and reassemble them, as well as completing machine size change procedures and their adjustments
* Ability to communicate appropriately at all levels


* Experience gained within a food manufacturing environment
* Is able to demonstrate continuous progress and high achievement in compliance with audit standards (both internally and externally)
* Working to high quality standards (HACCP, etc)
* IT Skills - use of computer based maintenance systems
* Understand and have worked with pressure vessel systems
* Understand and appreciate the operation of main steam raising plants inc basic boiler house routines
* Understanding of air conditioning systems and process air plants inc chilled water system, dehumidification systems etc
* An appreciation of process line services inc, steam pipe work and condensate recover, compressed air, hot and cold water supply and food process pipe work
