Overhead Line Design Engineer

My client is a leading high quality Transmission and Distribution Line consultancy company operating in the UK, Europe and Australasia. They are currently seeking an Overhead Line Design Engineer to join their team in Nottingham.

The successful candidate will be involved in the following:
* Being involved with the design activities of OHL transmission lines within UK and Irelands Distribution Network Operators.
* In-House designs of overhead lines, new build and refurbishment
* Feasibility Studies
* Project Management of assigned projects
* Commercial management of assigned projects
* Site Visits within the UK and Ireland as required, overseas travel optional
* Attend client meetings as required
* Pricing and Resource Planning
* Liaise with team members in other offices throughout the world
* Provide construction guidance
* Consider the effects on Health and Safety through the design
* To use PLS CADD and other propriety software for the following tasks: Production of SAG Tension Reports, Profiles and Route Drawings, Clearance Reports and Calculations, Tower Analysis, Tower Modelling, Insulator Set Design, Foundation Design, Line Profiling and Catenary Support System, Tower Setting Levels, Material Quantification (not exhaustive)
* Bring innovative products and practical solutions to clients

Skills and experience required

* Extensive Experience within OHL Transmission or Distribution Design
* PLS Tower / PLS CADD
* Degree Qualified
* MS Office Suite Proficient
* Excellent Team Communication Skills
* Eligibility to work in the UK with a Full UK Driving License

* Experience of both Transmission and Distribution networks (11kV up to 400kV)
* Familiarity with UK, European & International design codes and standards for the Electricity Supply Industry (e.g. National Grid or ENA Technical Specifications, BS EN 50341/ IEC 60826, BS 8100/ 5950)
* Membership of an engineering body
