Operations Engineer

Department: Operations
Reports To: VP, Operations
Classification: Exempt


Provide design, operations support optimization, leadership, and oversight to all commercial, operational, regulatory and maintenance activities for oil, gas and water processing and transportation equipment and pipeline.

Major Duties/Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Operational knowledge of oil and gas field equipment including measurement, compressors, pumps, separators, filters, cyclones, pipelines, coolers, de-hydration
  • Provide technical guidance and input to operations staff, including modeling and sizing of equipment
  • Prepare modeling of facilities to address design concerns, operational questions, capacity constraints, and new project development. Includes CO2 and H2S treating, mechanical refrigeration units, JT units, crude oil stabilizers and TEG dehydrators
  • Provide technical guidance and input to Project Managers, including process modeling or new facilities, equipment design, and assessment of equipment during the refurbishment process
  • Provide support on existing facilities to include troubleshooting, analysis review, facility optimization, development of maintenance and operating procedures
  • Prepare analysis on preliminary equipment sizing and new application modeling
  • Recognize and promote ideas that provide safer, more efficient and cost-effective operation
  • Provide support for control systems (SCADA) and measurement systems.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:


3 years minimum designing and operating oil and gas facilities


Bachelor of Science in Engineering

Other Skills Ability to meet deadlines and provide deliverables for a multitude of simultaneous projects. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem solving skills. Strong MS Office skills, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Operate basic office equipment (copier, fax, printer, scanner, etc.) Attendance and punctuality are requirements of this position.

Wear and ensure others are in compliance with required safety equipment, such as steel toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required when on location. Working knowledge of DOT compliance requirements

Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Work Environment Work is generally performed in a standard office setting requiring sitting for long periods of time, occasionally standing and/or walking. May be required to make frequent trips to the field. Must be available by phone at all times.

Position Type/Hours This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm. Working extended hours/weekends as required.
