I am currently looking to recruit a Senior Production Manager / Plant Manager for a large Global FMCG Business in the Norfolk area.
The position will be responsible for over 250 direct reports across Operations, Production, H&S and CI.
You will be responsible for ensuring the plant production team meets output KPI's to agreed product specifications, cost performance targets and in compliance with health and safety, environmental and food safety requirements.
You will be accountable for continuous improvement of people, systems and plant in support of improving business performance. Deputise for the Operations Manager when required.

Key responsibilities

Health and Safety and Environment
*Lead the team to ensure all plant personnel comply with required statutory and mandatory H&S and Environmental requirements. Promote a 'safety first' culture and proactively drive H&S performance improvement. Ensure all machinery and equipment is compliant with statutory requirements and is only operated by trained and competent personnel. Ensure H&S refresher training is conducted at appropriate intervals and personnel records are maintained.

Food Safety and Quality
*Lead the team to ensure all plant personnel are trained and competent in food safety, SOPs and QAS specifications and comply with all rules and procedures concerning the production of safe food produced to specification. Ensure SOPs are up to date, relevant and refresher training is conducted at appropriate intervals and personnel records are maintained.

*Lead the operation of the plant in accordance with the Production Plan to agreed KPIs. Conduct daily management reviews and ensure effective actions are taken to address issues affecting performance and counter measures are put in place to prevent reoccurrence of issues.
*Report daily, and weekly and monthly performance to the business. Identify, manage and control labour resource requirements. Control labour and material usage costs.
*Manage and control plant overheads expenditure to deliver agreed budget performance.
Plant Standards
*Identify, implement and maintain 'GMP', 5S and visual systems in support of efficient plant operation.

Plant Development
*Develop improvement plans for improving plant standards and performance. Maintain annual and rolling three year capex proposal planning for maintaining plant fabric and infrastructure, essential replacement of equipment and investment payback opportunities.

Continuous Improvement
*Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives for improving plant performance.

People and Team Development
*Develop leadership and management skills for direct reports. Ensure Plant Teams have the requisite skills to perform job roles correctly and there are adequately trained deputies for holiday and absence cover.
*Develop & deliver succession plans to ensure talent pipeline is in place.

The successful candidate
*Will be an experienced Production Manager / Operations manager with a wealth of experience in managing team in excess of 200 people in a similar function within a Food / FMCG business.
*Who has experience managing and operating budgets and has a strong commercial acumen and can demonstrate the ability to train develop& motivate staff.
*Drive continuous improvement, reducing waste and increasing productivity of the plant operation.
