The main focus is developing renewable energy power plants across the United Kingdom with the help of their highly experienced management team and partners to allow them to deliver quality, bankable renewable power assets. Role: In this role you will be working closely alongside the grid manager, and if required the key management team members and land acquisition team. Supporting the Grid team in identifying and securing grid capacity both on the distribution level and national transmission level from 11kV up to 400kV network for its large-scale solar, wind and BESS projects. The primary responsibilities for this role include the design and development of underground line standards and special applications for ET capital and O&M projects. This is an exciting time to join our team as we are involved in industry-leading projects and initiatives like interconnecting 5000 MW of solar generation in the next 5 years, the first utility-owned offshore wind project in United States federal waters off the Atlantic coast, and the largest data center load growth in the world.• Perform engineering work activities and projects to develop, maintain, and support system-wide standards for underground transmission line applications.• Provide expert technical support to other groups for the application of standard designs.• Ensure the proper utilization of standard designs.• Identify root causes for deviations of standard practices and develop/recommend improvements to existing standards to improve utilization.• Evaluate and recommend new products, applications, and methods considering all stakeholder input to maintain or improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.• Participate in various industry organizations to stay current with best practices.• Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:• Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments.• Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.• Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.• Equally effective with working independently or in a team environment.• Experience with analyzing cable ampacities for various installations.• Engineering experience with underground extruded and pipe type cable systems and accessories ranging from 69kV through 500kV is preferred.• Experience with geotechnical report evaluation, especially soil thermal properties. Experience with Civil excavation techniques is a plus.• Experience with PLS-CADD software is a plus.• Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices. Engineer II:• 3+ years of experience• Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree required. Advanced Degrees may be substituted for years of experience.• Understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including three-phase power systems is preferred.• Understanding of the engineering principles related to underground transmission cable is preferred.Engineer III:• 5+ years of experience.• Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree required. Advanced Degrees may be substituted for years of experience.• Comprehensive understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including three-phase power is preferred.• Thorough understanding of the engineering principles related to underground transmission cable is preferred.
