Our client a leading Coatings Manufacturer are looking for an Pre-Treatment Chemist for their Production Plant based in the UK paying a competitive salary and amazing benefits package with structured training and career progression. This is an exciting opportunity for a focused, ambitious, target driven individual to come on board and take responsibility for the companies production.
Pre-Treatment Chemist duties and responsibilities:
* To oversee product quality, this will require excellent knowledge of inorganic chemistry.
*Review formulations and understand the interaction of the chemistry used, the role the chemicals play in the manufactured product and the end effect on the customer's plant.
*The applicant will need to have the confidence to recommend changes to the formulation i.e. changes to the percentage or substitutions of ingredients.
*To develop the existing product range through new technology
*Product knowledge should extend to the following product ranges:
Acidic / Alkali Cleaners (and their associated Surfactant systems)
Acidic Derusters / Descalers / Deoxidisers
Iron / Zinc / Manganese Phosphates
Post Phosphates (Seals)
Conversion coatings (both Chrome and Non Chrome)
*To oversee the daily running of the laboratory and ongoing projects
*To provide technical advice and support to new and existing customers, ensuring quality of product is maintained.
*Identify potential opportunities for growth at customers sites
*Commission new sales and set-up processes, advising customer of products that meet their specifications and requirements.
*QC analysis of manufactured product, evaluation of raw materials
*Maintain the laboratory and supplies to comply with HSE guidance.
* To manage the Material Safety Data Sheet system.
*To take on the role of H&S and Quality manager to maintain compliance
Pre-Treatment Chemist desired experience:
* A good level of experience of the pretreatment / surface finishing chemical industry is essential
* Good experience of wet in-organic chemistry
* Appropriate chemistry qualifications
* A full UK driving license
* Good communication skills are essential
* An organised and methodical approach to problem solving
* Basic Microsoft Word & Excel skills
