You will be required to fulfill business and client development, project management, and technical responsibilities, along with group leadership, staff management, recruiting, and mentoring tasks. These are some of the key technical responsibilities for this position:

  • Strategic business planning to segment and target specific industrial and municipal clients with water supply, water treatment, and water re-use projects;
  • Preparing workplans, technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Construction-phase services, including project delivery strategy development, client advisory, and resident engineering services;
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties;
  • Managing teams to prepare design plans and specification for various engineered systems for conveyance and treatment of water;
  • Business development, including bringing in new clients and obtaining repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and developing and implementing a personal business development plan;
  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability; and
  • Recruiting, managing, and mentoring junior staff;

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, MSHA Mine safety training, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 20%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

  • BS in Engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred). (required)
  • Advanced degree in related field. (preferred)
  • Professional certification (P.E.) to practice Civil Engineering in California. (required)
  • 5 -15 years of direct environmental consulting experience, including water treatment technology pilot testing, analytical data analysis, conceptual and detailed water treatment facility design, cost estimating, construction oversight of new water infrastructure. (required)
  • Experience with managing multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients and growing a practice that sustains a group of professional junior staff. (required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to water treatment. (required)
  • Excellent leadership and detail-orientation skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)
