The Process Engineer is responsible for the coordination and execution of detailed engineering for construction of a specialty styrenic polymer plant to be built at the Bayport site. This position will work with the chosen engineering contractor to finalize process design, develop, review detailed work packages for mechanical equipment, rotating equipment, heat exchangers, vendor packages, 3D model/piping design, and provide direction for the contractor in the design development process. In addition, the Process Engineer will support the Engineering Manager and Project Director in the execution of the project management of change (MoC) processes. This role will have active participation in and resolution of project HAZOP and LOPA action items and will assist the project operations/maintenance representative in the development of operating manuals, procedures, and training documents. This position is expected to move full time to the Manufacturing Site's Operations organization in support of the start-up and routine operation of the plant.
During the execution stage of the project, this position has responsibility for developing, auditing, and accepting a wide range of engineering deliverables generated by the project contractor. The Process Engineer is a member of a small but essential project team that will drive performance on this important project. The Process Engineer will be accountable for managing the P&ID development and the management of change process. The role will also interface with the other members of the project team to ensure a safe, reliable and effective process and mechanical design of the plant.
Works with existing technology, engineering contractor, and project personnel to assure accuracy and efficiency in vendor/equipment selection. Helps define and clarify technical requirements and specifications to the procurement team, vendors, and construction personnel. This position will institute best engineering practices, challenge cost, and assure operational reliability in a cost driven project environment.
The Process Engineer will also work with the Operations/Maintenance Representative to develop the project commissioning and startup strategy and assists the engineering contractor in development of the DCS and packaged unit controls for the plant. This position will also fully support the handover, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of the facility.
Provide resolution of HAZOP recommendations and document changes to the project by using the project management of change procedure.
