Relay Settings Engineer

This position requires a proactive and self-directed individual with project engineering experience and relay settings skills. Must have strong relay settings experience & overseeing work completed by other engineering firms.
5-8 years pf experience required
1. Develop familiarity with PPL's protective settings requirements.
a. Implement processes and procedures associated with PPL's standard settings approach.
2. Support EPC work
a. Physical and electrical design as well as protective relay design and settings are contracted to third parties for execution. This job supports those projects in an owner's engineer function.
b. Assist EPC contractors with guidance for PPL projects. Review work, answer questions, facilitate discussions with implementation of design and deviations from standard.
c. Oversee implementation of PPL's controls that ensure quality and compliance with industry standards.
3. Support interconnection customer work
a. Perform fault analysis using CAPE and Aspen studies / 1 or both or by hand and provide system parameters to customers receiving service at transmission voltages.
b. Review interconnection settings of relays at customer point of interconnection.
c. Review regional substation line settings to ensure coordination with customer facilities.
4. Support PPL operations
a. Perform line relay adequacy studies for abnormal switching. Review protection coverage for transmission line reconfigurations, extended reach, networking, outages, etc.
5. Support PPL compliance
a. Includes work to ensure PPL complies with one or more of the PRC-19, PRC-23, PRC-25, PRC-26, and PRC-27 standards.
b. Run reports. Follow up with engineers completing work to ensure tasks are complete.
c. Meet with internal and external organizations regarding compliance controls and evidence.
