Role Outcome

To help T&D Sales tendering and delivery activities as well as other activities that are relevant to the business.
Expected Responsibilities: As a tendering engineer, the incumbent will play an essential role in securing business for Mitsubishi Electric Europe. This role requires strong project management, client management, technical and commercial skills.
In this role, the incumbent's responsibilities are:
To engage internally with other departments within the headquarters and factories in Japan to successfully plan and deliver work.
To engage externally with the supply chain - partners, sub-contractors and equipment suppliers to build relationships and strengthen Europe's competitive market position.
To engage with clients as part of a team to build relationships, market technical capability and understand client requirements and upcoming project pipelines.
To be involved on all technically-related aspects of tenders and projects in execution.
To review enquiry documentation with reference to the scope of supply, client requirements, relevant technical specifications and commercial terms and conditions.
To contribute to achieving internal governance approvals. For example, by preparing: bid/no bid reviews, bid strategy, costing, pricing.
To manage tenders, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, to specification.
Prepare technical documentation needed for the bidding phase and execution phase.
To provide all necessary information/documents to the client to get technical acceptance and also to attend meetings with the client as a team.
To contribute to system design of T&D including HVDC/FACTS solutions. For example, single line diagrams, layouts, protection & control, main balance of plant equipment. You will typically prepare conceptual drawings and basic specifications, then manage and review the detailed output of others.
To check system study reports to ensure compliance with the client specification and relevant transmission grid code. Examples of such reports are main circuit parameters, harmonic filter design, audible noise, availability assessment, loss analysis, insulation coordination, dynamic performance, electromagnetic transient performance, earthing, protection studies.<
To collect and evaluate technical and commercial quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors offers for the major critical components to ensure that the required bid is in compliance with the client's specification and scope of work.
To help prepare the cost estimation (equipment and manpower) for the tender to ensure all items are covered in the costing part.
To manage Technical Queries (TQ) responses raised by the client while meeting submission deadline.
To capture and communicate assumptions/deviations/clarifications/ important notes.
To prepare risk sheets for each tender and prospective project and organise risk workshops to identify and quantify risks by involving the relevant departments.
To ensure a database of sub-suppliers' quotations of each item and equipment is developed and updated to facilitate future bids.
To organize lessons-learned workshops after bidding projects and identify actionable measures that improve organization's position bidding for the next one.

Expected Background: Very good command of English (Business and Technical).
Engineering background familiar with power systems. Previous experience with HVDC systems, Grid Access Solutions, and/or FACTS projects is desirable. Experience in T&D is essential.
Incumbent should have previous experience in an engineering role with an evident attention to detail.
Project Management capability.
Interested in working in a cross-cultural environment.

Willingness to travel across the EU and to Japan 15-20% of the time.
