POSITION: Company CE Senior Engineer, SCADA Controls DEPARTMENT: Grid Integration / SCADA & Resource Integration REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, SCADA & Resource Integration LOCATION: Full-time Remote We are currently looking for a dynamic and passionate SCADA Controls & Commissioning Engineer to oversee multiple aspects of the company Execution process for our renewable resource projects (PV, BESS, Wind, Hybrid, etc) including the Controls build-out, NERC Compliance, and hand-off to our Operations team. This person will work with various SCADA vendors, EPCs, equipment manufacturers, utilities, and internal teams to meet all grid integration, NERC, and company operational requirements. This is a great opportunity for someone with Renewable Energy SCADA Controls experience and an understanding of NERC Compliance to strengthen their skills and drive our Clean Energy division to be an industry leader in the renewable sector. The position is remote and requires up to 10% travel to project locations. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: SCADA Controls: Subject Matter Expert for SCADA Control development, commissioning, and testing Thorough understanding of control requirements for each type of project (PV Solar, PV + BESS, Standalone BESS, Wind, etc) and implementation of control logic to achieve required plant operations taking into account requirements from the Off-Taker, Interconnecting Utility, ISO/RTO, and others. When multiple SCADA Vendors are participating in a single project, coordinate all control requirements/responsibilities amongst the various vendors to ensure logic development is understood and coordinated between the various Vendors Understanding of Substation design taking into account static reactive resources within the substation (capacitor/reactor banks) and other devices affecting SCADA controls (i.e. On-Load Tap Changers). Coordinate with SCADA Vendors to ensure control logic meets all grid code requirements (LGIA, PPA, NERC Inverter Based Resource Guidelines, IEEE 2800, etc) Drive coordination with Utilities and ISOs/RTOs to develop SCADA Control logic (both Real and Reactive power controls) that meet local area Grid Code requirements. Serve as the company SME to utilities that may be unfamiliar with Renewable Resources or concerned about their impact to the grid. Drive continuous improvement with various SCADA Vendors with the goal of our company being the industry leader in SCADA controls. Areas of continuous improvement include designing controls per industry recommendations/guidelines (NERC IBR Guidelines, IEEE 2800, lessons learned from Projects, etc) Develop and document company Standards for SCADA Controls and develop SCADA Controls philosophy documents Review and oversee HMI build-out to ensure all applicable pages are available in the HMI, all equipment and associated operations parameters are displayed in a logical/functional way, HMI controls are intuitive, and HMI is consistent amongst projects. Where multiple SCADA Vendors are involved in a project, coordinate various Vendors to ensure all control requirements are accounted for in the HMI. Drive commissioning controls testing and create/obtain documentation showing completion of testing, any required corrective actions, and company final acceptance of test results Review, provide feedback, and act as approver for contractor project deliverable items including: Control test plan/procedure, Controls Narrative, SCADA PPC/MPPC testing reports, and others as required by the SCADA Project Engineer Provide input to project metering design to ensure controls are coordinated with project metering.
