Headquartered in Chicago, our client has assembled a team of power professionals with a proven utility/IPP sector track record including extensive experience with development, repowering, M&A, financing, operations and asset management. Consistent with their worldwide strategy, our client's mandate is to acquire, develop, operate and manage power facilities in North America.
We are seeking an additional Accountant to join to our dynamic accounting team and growing company. The Accountant will be responsible for performing monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes and maintaining various databases. In addition, this person will help to support the organization by compiling and reporting operational data to lenders for compliance. The Accountant will work closely with all functions within the organization.
The most qualified professional for this position will have:
*Performs month-end journal entries and reconciliations with supporting workpapers
*Prepares month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
*Compiles, consolidates, and analyzes financial information for internal & external use
*Maintains the Company's cash accounting and reconciliation process for compliance including ensuring appropriate tracking of account payables, deposits, distributions, and fees
*Responsible for monthly funding and loan compliance requirements of power plant facilities
*Resolves budget to actual discrepancies on a monthly basis
*Manages and updates the fixed asset & capital expenditures register
*Tracks Sales and Use tax for reporting
*Works with Accounts Payable Account for posting and paying invoices
*Conducts inventory management, annual counts, and analysis
*Assists with the annual budget and quarterly and annual audit processes
*Provides support to management in investigating unusual items that may be noted
*Safeguards Company assets and the confidentiality of Company financial information
*Follows established guidelines and identifies and resolves problems
*Completes additional project work as assigned
*Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
oAdvanced Excel skills is a Plus
oMicrosoft Great Plains accounting software skills is a Plus
*Strong oral and written communication skills
*Must be flexible and thorough
*Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
*Strong understanding of accounting principles
*Ability to work independently
*Able to read and understand technical forms and financial reports
*Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly
*Ability to work overtime and to work effectively under tight time constraints as required at peak reporting periods
*Work with people across all levels of management and project a positive attitude
*High sense of accountability and integrity and continuous improvement mentality
*Improves internal processes, controls, and documentation for effectiveness and efficiency
Education and Experience Requirements:
*Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
*1-3 years of relevant accounting experience
*Loan compliance experience is preferred
*CPA or candidate of the CPA is a Plus
