You will be responsible for providing a technical/design engineering service to the Building Service Group on projects, as directed by the Associate Principal in charge of the team. You must be a self-starter and be able to work independently and as part of a larger multi-disciplinary project team. Ideally you will take responsibility for technical delivery from schematic design through construction documents including the delivery of reports, plans and specifications.
You must demonstrate a strong capability in relevant skill-sets (i.e. technical expertise, customer focus, collaboration and teamwork) and an awareness of the remaining competencies (creativity, leadership and commercial focus).
Work competently on an independent basis
Communicate directly with Clients
Perform reviews of graduate and engineers work and provide technical mentorship and leadership
Contribute to the further development of technical standards including details, specifications and standard practice
Perform design reviews of others work
Guide projects through plan check
Take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design
Prepare Technical Specifications and construction documents
Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant design decisions and ensure the objectives of the client are achieved.
Continually ensure practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client's best interests and that standards and design is in keeping with current legislation and the relevant building codes for the relevant state etc.
Certifications such as CPD or CIPE
Minimum 7 years' experience working in a P/FP Engineering role
Broad design knowledge on a wide range of US projects
Experience using Revit or similar tools
Ability to run projects successfully
Confident, proactive character, able to take the lead in challenging situations
Good communication skills, experience in dealing with other employees and external clients.
Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently
Excellent knowledge of US plumbing codes
Ability to mentor junior engineers
Relevant Bachelor or Master degree preferred
Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
Professional membership in ASPE or ISPE
Ability to perform hydraulic calculations using software such as HAS
LEED AP accredited preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of pumping systems
Experience working within California preferred
