The purpose of the position of Senior Well Performance Engineer is to ensure safe, timely, and cost effective rig modifications, platform modifications, interfacing between the rig and platform, commissioning, rig mobilization, rig up, startup, and handover for rig operations. The objective is to achieve an efficient start-up of the Phase 2 drilling campaign with strong operational performance from the onset. This will require close collaboration with Operations and Project groups for the required platform modifications. Several rig to platform interface challenges have been identified that will impact operational performance and it is expected that more will be realized after final rig selection. It is expected that the initial work site will be primarily office based work with some travel to the company's platform, the drilling rig, shipyard, or other vendor sites as necessary. As the work scope is further defined, it is expected that site based work will increase throughout year 2018 and into year 2019.
The Senior Well Performance Engineer reports to the Senior Manager Wells Engineering and will be part of the Wells Group. He will work closely with the selected drilling contractor, the Operations and Projects Groups, third party specialists, and other stakeholders as necessary.
Promote and champion safety in all phases and aspects of the planning and execution activities. Ensure that all activities are properly risk assessed and the correct mitigations are in place.
Identify and prioritize rig to platform interfaces and clashes that will impair the rig installation and start up on the platform.
Identify and prioritize the interdependencies between TAD rig selection, mooring design, weather management plan, and vessel selection to maintain high HSE standards and minimize NPT.
Develop and implement rig contractor supervisor and crew induction plans, training plans, and program briefings to facilitate an effective rig start-up and commencement of the drilling campaign with an accelerated performance learning curve.
Diverter Line Engineering design that meets ALARP principles and is cost efficient.
The platform skidbeam remediation and engineered shim plate installation under the DES master skids to provide a "near" level drill floor.
Analyze the convective heat loads from the GTC after coolers and radiant heat loads from the production
flare on the work environment in the derrick and drill floor. Develop safe and effective mitigations to
ensure HSE hazards are eliminated.
Identify and prioritize rig modifications that will enhance safety and operational performance for the Phase 2 drilling and completion campaign.
Ensure appropriate pre rig start-up QA/QC is conducted, e.g. as per the Shell Rig Start Manual, to optimize the rig startup and minimize rig and service contactor startup NPT.
Manage with preparation of the rig mobilization into / out of the shipyard and onto the platform. Considerations include towing plans, emergency evacuation plans, mooring plans, DROPs audits, etc.
Liaise with Operations, Engineering, and other stakeholders to optimize platform and rig modification
Oversee the development of SIMOPs and bridging documents as required to meet the objectives of a safe and effective rig move, rig up, commissioning, and startup.
Prepare the scope of work, schedule, cost estimate, and justification for each identified modification.
Contract holder for fluids, LMP, and drilling rig.
Minimum of 15 years' experience in drilling rig operations with:
1. At least 10 years in senior positions in well operations, e.g. as rig/drilling superintendent and
2. At least 5 years of project management experience.
Holder of a University Engineering degree.
Must be medically fit to travel to offshore and international work sites on an "as-needed" basis.
Valid IWCF Drilling Supervisor Certificate for Surface BOP Stack as minimum.
Extensive knowledge of mobilization, rig up, operation, and demob of semi-sub tender assist drilling rigs including mooring arrangements of semi-sub rigs.
Extensive knowledge of rig design, rig fabrication, and rig - platform interface management for challenging offshore developments.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team environment with team members distributed in different locations within Malaysia, SE Asia, and potentially other geographic locations.
Ability to coordinate and manage multiple activities using progressed scheduling and monitoring of milestones.
Proven track record of HSE leadership.
Extensive knowledge of well control.
