Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Salary: Up to £60,000 p.a. + Benefits

The role as Senior Software Engineer involves new streaming technology used for video steaming over Wi-Fi in a wide range of venues - stadiums, aircraft, applications for satellite communications, and even including coffee shops. The role will involve working on the innovative technology in conjunction with the BBC that is set to help remove the plague that is packet loss, and the frustrations that come from interrupted bandwidth.

*The successful candidate will participate in the development of a ground-breaking video distribution system
*It delivers high resolution quality and consistent video & audio streams to many mobile devices
*Future applications in the aircraft and satellite realm
If prosperous, you shall design and create using:
*Linux Kernel device driver development
*Protocol skills such as MPEG-DASH, HLS, RTP
*Skills to process multimedia content from multiple sources and distribute it over IP networks
There is significant potential for the successful applicant to expand their skills. This includes
*Developing Apps for mobile devices
*Network optimisation
*Web applications.
*State issues and solutions regarding development
*Full lifecycle project ability
*Definition, partitioning & coding
Technical Requirements:
*Kernel device driver development with Linux and using Linux Applications
*Skilled in Python, C++, C and Shell scripts
*TCP/IP stack
*MP4, MPEG-TS container formats for multimedia
*RTP, MPEG-DASH, HLS streaming protocols
*Multimedia applications and frameworks such as Gstreamer and FFmpeg
*DVB, MPEG-TS for Broadcast TV
*Highly proficient in Unix-like OS

General Skills
*Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
*Software or system development projects experience
*Experience with Issue tracking tools such as Redmine or JIRA
*Experience in Agile or Waterfall
*Version control system experience
