The Civil / Mechanical Engineering Department seeks to recruit an industrious individual to join the Civil Engineering management team. The ideal candidate must be well organized, detail oriented, able to render sound business decisions, and have the flexibility to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. This individual must have a high regard for personal accountability and understand the critical importance of commitment to excellence. The selected candidate must be able to promote a positive work ethic in support of the Company's Corporate Values, possess a high energy level and have a demonstrated commitment to environmental excellence and safety in the workplace. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the demonstrated ability to effectively interact with various levels of personnel. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or Bachelors in Engineering with a Master's degree in Civil Engineering required. Requires knowledge in the design of concrete, masonry and steel structures as they relate to facility structural repairs and modifications. Must have a working knowledge of all applicable codes such as ACI, AISC, NESC, ASCE, NYC/NYS Building Codes, etc. Must have a thorough understanding of the environmental issues that impact civil projects. Computer (Microsoft Office) skills required.
Use technical competence to determine the civil scope -of -work for a project and field experience to check construction contract documents (drawings and specifications) for quality and completeness. Must be able to independently perform calculations and check those prepared by others. Perform structural condition assessments and evaluations. Provide support to Company Substation and Construction personnel on resolution to field problems, Requests for Information, and shop drawing, scaffold, rigging and sheeting/shoring reviews. Must have a general knowledge of construction means and methods and contract administration. Requires strong knowledge in the design of foundations, concrete, masonry and steel structures. Provide support to Company Substation & Transmission Operations, Purchasing and Construction Departments for the procurement and construction of projects. Respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
Requires 8+ years of applicable engineering work experience. P.E. License required. Preference will be given to those with Transmission and/or Substation design experience including computer structural design and finite element analysis (STAAD, SAP, ENERCALC, AutoCAD).
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited construction or engineering program
