Our client is an Australian owned and operated, advanced design, engineering and manufacturing business with a successful 60-year history in Australia.

Due to growing project commitments we are currently looking for Service Technicians to join the team.

What you will be doing

Specific role responsibilities include;

  • Perform valve repairs to high company standards
  • Strip, clean and overhaul vales including reliefs, regulators and stop valves
  • Follow detailed assembly drawings and service instructions
  • Use a lathe during parts refurbishment
  • Complete inspection and test documentation
  • Perform offsite work including shipboard work and hyperbaric system maintenance
  • Deal directly with customers to arrange servicing, inspection and installation
  • Diagnose system faults

There's a lot to learn and a lot of moving parts. This role requires focus and absolute attention to detail. As the parts and equipment you are checking, servicing and maintaining are for the highest level of client and have a direct impact on people's safety - this role requires someone diligent and thorough.

Once you've learned the ropes and understand the equipment and how it all works together, then you'll be out at Henderson (about 30% of the time across the year) actually working on the vessels, advising clients on the systems, trouble shooting, assisting to maintain the systems and equipment. So you need to have strong communication skills as well. Though you're the expert in the field you'll also need to have a willingness, capability and desire to listen to clients, and to interpret what they want and then articulate the way forward. That's all something you will be trained in, but you do need to have good people and communication skills, as well as that high-level attention to detail and technical capability.

Most of the time you'll be in the workshop checking the products and systems, fault finding, trouble shooting and occasionally lending a hand (especially as you become more skilled) in the design and development of new and innovative products. Then you'll be out with the client installing systems, servicing and maintaining equipment, so it has a nice mix of routine with a bit of a change of scenery and task to keep things interesting.

Requirements

You could be an experienced Service Technician, a young graduate engineer looking for their first work opportunity, a mature-aged Toolmaker looking to put your skills to use ... our client is open-minded, but to be considered you'll be required to have:

  • Technical background and mechanical aptitude
  • Trades background or Degree or Diploma in Engineering, or experience in similar role
  • Effective communication skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to lift up to 20kgs (tools, equipment)
  • Commitment to safe work practices
  • Good work ethic and high standard of work
  • High attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Enjoy working in a hands-on environment
  • Pride in your work
  • Long term commitment to company
  • Australian Citizenship
