Spencer Ogden are working together with a leading solar systems solutions provider to help them find an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their team.
*Manage all stages of project design, including conceptual and advanced system design, observing regulatory codes, customer requirements, balance of systems, site visits, permitting and technical support during construction phase;
*Supervise project implementation in collaboration with the Project Manager during planning and construction to assure quality and execution according to schedule;
*Provide support to business development efforts in interfacing with customers;
*Develop and review energy production models, project schedules, cost estimation, bill of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards and quotes from suppliers;
*Create, deliver, and maintain drawing packages, specifications for suppliers and sub-contractors and technical project documentation;
*Manage and coordinate all technical aspects of the grid interconnection with the utility;
*Design the grid interconnection concepts (and ideally executive plan sets) for the PV plant, including substation for HV grid interconnection;
*Cost estimation for grid interconnection work and labour;
*Manage and coordinate external resources such as structural, civil and electrical engineer consultants, geotechnical and topographic surveyors, other specialized professionals as needed in the design and commissioning of photovoltaic systems;
*Direct internal and external designers and consultants in creating, delivering and maintaining drawing packages and project documentation;
*Work collaboratively with other operations team members on project execution and process development including project procurement, construction management, and project controls;
*Take a leadership role in the technical response to proposals to design and deliver photovoltaic projects;
*Provide recommendations for continuous improvements in project designs, plans, processes and product development;
*Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results.
*A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering science
*At least three years experience as an engineer in the solar industry
*At least five years relevant work experience in the design, construction and commissioning of power plants.
*Experience with AutoCAD
*Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
*Knowledge of the relevant technical codes and regulation
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player, prepared to travel
*Previous experience managing projects from initial design to installation and execution is preferred.
*Experience in permitting processes with local authorities having jurisdiction is preferred.
