Has overall responsibility and coordinates activities of the Steel and Welding Craft.
Leader and Initiator in Safety. Ensures team compliance with all company & OSHA regulated safety requirements/standards.

*Lead and manage through daily application of ORA (Ownership-Responsibility-Accountability) principles and safe quality production.
*Responsible for providing quantity and quality of workers requested by Yard Superintendent & Project Managers.
*Train assigned Work Leaders in cost control, safety, job skills, and quality.
*Directs all phases of steel industrial fabrication, joining, welding and erection to include planning, organizing, scheduling, assembly, erection and fabrication; monitors the performance of assigned Leadermen at project and company scheduled meetings.
*Continuous monitoring of tasks performance by reporting Estimate to Complete.
*Oversees the execution of production schedules to ensure product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of materials and scheduled delivery dates are in order.
*Ensures adequate resources are available to all projects to be successful.
*Plans, prepares and schedules production operations, schedules, progress reports and teams with Project Managers and Project Coordinators, Superintendents and other craft activities to ensure production and quality of work performed meets specifications, cost, and schedule.
*Identify and resolves issues in the area of craft performance, production schedules, manning projections, budget requirements, etc.
*Ensure all machinery and equipment is inspected and maintained to design operational performance and optimum utilization.
*Foster a climate that generates continuous improvement in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of steel department.
*Maintain appropriate interface and relations with customers, paying detailed attention to the contract and specifications.
*This position has budget and estimating responsibilities. Individual will schedule, plan, evaluate workloads and procure material, equipment and parts.
*Identify growth work and submit reports.
*Demonstrate reliability in the performance of overtime and critical jobs
*Must be familiar with various welding procedures and qualifications. Must be able to record and track welding performances.

*Responsible and accountable for the performance of leadermen, technicians, and mechanics for quality, cost, scheduling, and safety.
*Enforce worker compliance with appropriate procedures in production, accuracy control, safety, cost, environmental protection and quality assurance.
*Administer discipline in a fair manner in consultation with Human Resources and Union Reps to insure equitable action to correct employee behavior and performance deficiencies.
*Manage in a manner to promote a safe yard and positive employee attitude.
*Promote and advocate company policies.
*Comply with and ensure the Company's "Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy".

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

*Bachelor's Degree and/or 6 year's experience with proven problem solving and decision-making skills Weld/Fabrication Technology, structural experience
*Minimum 10 years structural shipyard experience as a supervisor over fabrication and/or repair
*Thorough knowledge of ABS Classification guidelines, USCG, SOLAS and AWS requirements
*Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) knowledge is preferred;
*Must be flexible as to shift changes
Management: Works with minimal direction, independently determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to others. Determine appropriate actions, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for expediting results by exercising independent judgment within defined practices and policies. Follows an organized method in approach to work but is cognizant of the time needed to provide a service or product.
Communication: Ability to speak effectively before others in and outside the organization. Effectively communicate and respond to questions from managers, employees, clients, customers-both internal and external, and the general public.
Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, production schedules, budgets, manning requirements, engineering documents, technical procedures, government regulations, common manuals and journals. Be able to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test and reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Ability to apply high-level budgeting/accounting skills to execute contract ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in schematic, blueprint, mathematical, or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
