**The Opportunity**

In this position, you will have the chance to:

- Serve as a technical specialist or assume a supervisory role in Substation Design.

- Oversee engineering personnel on projects with medium to high levels of complexity, covering distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission voltage classes.

- Develop electrical design deliverables, encompassing protection and control design (including protective relays) and/or physical design.

- Actively engage in management, project scheduling, and work/resource planning meetings.

- Interface directly with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

- Ensure quality assurance and quality control for projects and provide guidance to junior engineers.

 

This is a HYBRID position. Candidates must be willing to commute to one of our U.S. Regional Offices. For any candidates outside of a 50 mile radius from a regional office, remote work will be available. Exceptions can be made for more Senior hires.

 

**Key Responsibilities**

- Offer guidance and direction on department design guidelines, standards, systems, relevant engineering codes, and company policies proactively.

- Assist in the development, maintenance, and updates of engineering standards.

- Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.

- Independently apply knowledge and ensure compliance with the company's quality program.

- Establish related processes and promote a culture that fosters quality.

- Provide guidance and direction to others.

- Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.

- Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple or large-scale projects.

- Conduct complex research and provide recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.

- Oversee the collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering tasks.

- Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.

- Manage allocated budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.

- Develop and implement advanced engineering solutions for intricate problems.

- Review lower-level engineering work or assignments.

- Assume responsibility for leading production teams, coordinating multiple discipline activities, and serving as the responsible charge for projects.

- Establish work plans for specific projects.

- Actively coordinate with all internal and external team members on complex projects.

- Typically responsible for defining project schedules for a single discipline or may have responsibility for multiple disciplines.

- Determine the identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.

- Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns for moderately complex projects.

- Concentrate on current client needs and situations.

- May offer additional services to the client.

- Typically provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

- Serve as a technical specialist and possess the knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a specific practice area.

- Typically support multiple projects dealing with highly complex technical challenges.

- Actively promote knowledge management within the organization and provide mentoring.

- As a subject matter expert, possess additional expertise in a technical area, participate in professional societies by presenting papers, engage on technical committees, and assist with code/standard authoring.

- Be externally recognized in the industry as an expert, enhancing the company's brand.

- Oversee performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions typically.

- Manage engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline.

- Resolve resource conflicts and identify training needs.

 

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Substation Design experience - Physical and/or Protection & Controls

- Professional Engineer (PE) License

**Minimum Qualifications**

- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.

- Minimum of 10 years related work experience.

- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

 

**Certifications**

Most positions - depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division - will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit* of such registration
