This position is with a global consulting firm assisting public and private clients to plan, develop, design, construct, operate and maintain thousands of critical infrastructure projects around the world. The Houston, TX office has an active need for a Supervising Water Resources Engineer.

The Supervising Water Resources Engineer will apply expertise in water systems and act as design support staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must!

The role will involve tasks such as:

  • Leading modeling projects and guiding junior staff in the development/calibration of pressurized pipe systems for both potable and reclaimed water distribution systems
  • Design of sanitary sewer relocations and drainage facility relocations utilizing open channel flow design principles
  • Working with other design engineers in responding to complex drainage and stormwater design issues for transportation projects combining design and engineering knowledge to produce the best projects for our communities.
  • Produce design calculations, design drawings and documents, and project standards and specifications.
  • Performing traditional drainage design services for various municipal, transportation and rail projects. These activities would include drainage pipe systems, bridges & culverts, erosion control design, cost estimating, construction document preparation, specification writing, SWPPPs and permit application.
  • Conducting watershed and riverine modeling, performing stream restoration and water quality studies, designing hydraulic infrastructures, performing seepage and scour analyses and flood inundation mapping.
  • Develop quantity take-offs, engineering cost estimates, engineering reports, and permit applications for water projects.
  • Performing field visits and site reconnaissance as dictated by the project requirements.
  • Supporting proposal development and business development on a variety of water-related as well as interdisciplinary projects and attending conferences and seminars.
  • Communicating with clients and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
  • Promoting WSP water resources project capabilities by presenting at conferences and seminars and helping develop appropriate presentations for prospective clients.
  • Preparing water quality, groundwater, and conjunctive use reports
  • Providing design support during construction


Requirements

  • The selected candidate must be a Texas Professional Engineer (PE licensed)
  • BS (MS preferred) in Civil/Water Resources/Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited Engineering program.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience using various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, HydroCAD, TR-55, HY-22 and PCSWMM) is required.
  • Proven experience
  • with ArcGIS is also required.
