Job Description

*Responsible for the design of HVDC systems up to 500kV.
*Reviewing designs produced by external contractors and in-house.
*Sound knowledge and experience required for the design and operation of electrical networks and development construction.
*Advising on design and design change issues.
*Professional in an electrical field but experience and extensive knowledge of other engineering fields would be of benefit.
*Experience with Construction and Design Management (CDM).
*Ensure that design projects are undertaken by skilled personnel and sub-contractors, reviewing designs created by others.
*Questioning, proposing, accepting and applying alternative solutions compared with those dictated by the client specifications, processes, policies, and "best practices".
*Responsible for the effective delivery of the assigned tasks and deliverables of projects to required quality, time and budget
*Participate in site visits / non-intrusive surveys as required as part of the design activities or as part of site support.
*Ensuring risks are proactively recognised, assessed and managed to avoid negative impacts on the project.
*Identify and implement the best technical solution.
*Client Interface management comprising of: project resource, System Operator, infrastructure planners, Direct Labour / Construction team, procurement and Alliance Delivery Members (ADMs), property & consents as well as co-ordinating & attending necessary site meetings.
*Risk and CDM management.

*Deliver safe and constructible designs, reducing change and uncertainty during construction stage.
*Lower costs and programme through advanced designs and sharing ideas for repeat application.
*Provide technical skill to offer alternative more efficient solutions compared with those already in use by the client.
