This position will support site selection efforts and work on the generator interconnection process for my client's growing renewable energy business across various regions within US.
Responsibilities
Support my client's power generation project development, acquisition, and operations activities in the area of electric transmission/interconnection.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the generator interconnection process across ISOs/RTOs.
Prepare, submit, and manage generator interconnection requests and follow study processes.
Support Development team in conducting studies, summarizing ISO/RTO/TO reports to help develop new project siting strategies
Coordinate, review, and interpret interconnection and transmission studies (short circuit, transient stability, and load flow) performed by utilities and outside consultants.
Perform power flow analysis, review models, and review studies to determine potential upgrade and costs associated with interconnection.
Support M&A and Operations teams as needed on transmission / interconnection issues and congestion issues.
Provide technical support for project development and acquisition activities in the evaluation of transmission system issues within the various ISOs/RTOs.
Provide interconnection support for my client's operating generation projects.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
5+ years of experience preferable in competitive generation, consulting, or RTO.
Working knowledge of the interconnection process in the ISOs/RTOs.
Experience with load flow analysis tools such as GE PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, PSSE or PowerWorld required.
Experience with economic analysis tools such as PROMOD preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints.

SUMMARY The HV Project Engineer will provide engineering support to the E&C team, and is responsible for managing all stages of project design. My client is currently looking for an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join and expand their Grid Team, working alongside the Grid Development Manager. The client is a renewable energy IPP company with fully integrated development capabilities and it's head office in London. The main focus is developing renewable energy power plants across the United Kingdom with the help of their highly experienced management team and partners to allow them to deliver quality, bankable renewable power assets. Their focus is on the development of large-scale solar, wind and hybrid energy storage projects. Role: In this role you will be working closely alongside the grid manager, and if required the key management team members and land acquisition team. Supporting the Grid team in identifying and securing grid capacity both on the distribution level and national transmission level from 11kV up to 400kV network for its large-scale solar, wind and BESS projects. You will regularly communicate and liaise with the relevant DNOs and NGESO to gather all necessary intelligence to successfully source and secure grid capacity for prospective projects.The ideal candidate must have experience in power systems analysis, excellent communication skills and experience of liaising with external stakeholders such as network operators and specialist grid consultants.Furthermore, you will be actively manging relevant grid aspects of the business, building and maintaining relationships with the DNOs & NG throughout the entire development and construction process. Additionally, you will be supporting the planning team and if necessary, the legal team on any grid connection related matters to ensure that the permits and legal documentation are fully aligned with the grid requirements. Responsibilities:• Identify and qualify grid capacity that are suitable for PV, Wind and BESS by undertaking the desktop power system analysis.• Originate, submit, and managed the process of transmission and distribution connection applications. • Gathering intelligence and analysing the existing and future electricity network available data bases at transmission and distribution level to provide input into the location and electrical characteristics of new solar/wind developments:• Engagement with NGESO and DNOs on pre-app meetings and budget offers to glean market-leading intelligence on the availability of connections any upcoming developments (short-, mid-, and long-term)• Completing the ENA's G99 application form for developments connected to the distribution network.• Generating SLDs using the Auto Cad and analysing the thirds party technical drawing.• Reviewing grid connection offers and advise the Management team on summarising costs, scope of work and technical aspects of the offer.• Undertaking detailed cost analysis of the grid connection costs and implementing strategies to reduce and optimise the costs for connection.• Manage project pipeline by communicating with DNOs / NGESO/ ICPs as necessary to track progress with development.• Liaising with developers and TOs/DNOs to understand the status and delivery programs and meet the milestones for grid connections.• Working with NGESO’s connection portal, completing the application forms including DRC for specific transmission network opportunities. Special Requirements: • 3-4 years in a technical role working electricity projects, including submission of grid connection applications at distribution or transmission level.• Electrical engineering background preferred (you may have a postgraduate degree in a relevant topic) with experience in a technical environment.• Working knowledge of the Grid Code /ENA G99 is important.• Experience with DIgSILENT Power Factory.• Ideally working experience in Solar and wind projects.• BESS experience is preferred, but not necessarily required.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following: Provide professional, cost effective and value adding electrical engineering services within Renewable Energy Business Units. The candidate should possess a strong knowledge of renewable energy and practical experience of managing connections to the Irish transmission system, and be well-versed in current Irish grid connection policy and regulation;Lead the delivery of project electrical engineering works and services. Manage the interaction with ESB Networks, Eirgrid, electrical & civil contractors, and other contractors and project stakeholders. Actively attend and participate in team meetings, site meetings and design meetings, to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and in line with statutory Health and Safety requirements. Lead and co-ordinate project energisations and construction related grid outages and manage grid code compliance testing associated with any new HV installation required to demonstrate compliance under the terms of its connection agreement;Lead engineering and optioneering processes of potential grid connection solutions for Renewable Energy projects. Prepare and procure analysis of the Irish Transmission system to identify the most feasible commercial grid connection options for live projects. Identify and apply Grid Code requirements to grid connection solutions, disseminate changes to Grid Code and connection policy to Renewable Energy Projects;Review and / or prepare technical project, tender and contract documentation to monitor, control and reduce cost. Monitor and analyse all elements of design, manufacture, processing, construction, operation, and maintenance to ensure delivery of current project requirements, including meeting obligations under any associated grid connection agreements. Identify and co-ordinate all stakeholders throughout project and service delivery to ensure that project and service key performance indicators are achieved. Enable sufficient, timely and appropriate information exchange between all stakeholders throughout project / service development and delivery to ensure that deliverables and KPI's are understood and any risks or opportunities are monitored and reviewed to achieve the best project / service results.
