There is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated transportation engineer seeking career advancement. The role involves designing and leading a variety of transportation projects for State, County, Tollway, and Local Agencies, as well as managing transportation design projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in both of these areas and be a team player, working collaboratively with diverse disciplines and offices. The position may be available in various locations.


  • Manage and complete engineering plans and specifications production according to IDOT Standards
  • Manage and complete Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients
  • Lead various projects and study types, including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements
  • Provide general civil engineering services for municipal, county, and state clients
  • Optional: Assist with business development and client management opportunities for transportation and infrastructure projects.


  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in roadway and infrastructure design using IDOT Standards
  • Preferred: MicroStation/Geopak capabilities with an understanding of IDOT workflow
  • Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman's IL service area (own transportation required)
  • Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to attain within 1 year
