The water resources practice provides municipal, state and federal governmental agencies and private sector clients a full array of integrated professional water resources services including:

*Watershed / Water quality
*Stormwater management
*Ecological Restoration/wetlands and streams
*Floodplain management
*River/stream restoration

Responsibilities Include:
*Promote the application of newest technologies (GIS/GPS/Civ3D, Automation etc.) to bring efficiency and clarity to our water resources assignments.
*Design stream channel restoration using Natural Channel Design principles validated through application of established hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles.
*Lead field survey team in obtaining watershed, stream, and valley morphologic data critical to proper assessment and restoration design of river and stream systems.
*Perform engineering computations related to site hydrology and hydraulics, earthwork, stormwater BMPs, and natural channel design structural components.
*Prepare design engineering plans and specifications for site drainage and stormwater management components for approval by municipalities and regulatory agencies.
*Work with other VHB practitioners to assist municipal, institutional and commercial clients with TMDL and MS-4 compliance.

Skills and Abilities:
*Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
*Strong technical background in hydrology and hydraulics and preferably natural channel design principals
*Perform engineering field surveys in order to collect geomorphic data necessary for applying stream classification, analysis and evaluation of existing conditions, and determining restoration potential.
*Strong knowledge and experience with preparation and review of Engineering Plans and Specifications to ensure that all aspects of project implementation are clearly conveyed
*Fully familiar with Virginia stormwater management regulations and TMDL compliance requirements
*Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
*Highly organized
*Capable of coordinating and performing multiple tasks and interacting with clients

*At least 8 years of experience in an engineering/environmental consulting environment
*B.S. or M.S. in civil engineering and/or environmental engineering or a closely related field
*Licensed P.E. with natural channel design and innovative stormwater management experience is preferred
*Formal natural channel design training (Rosgen, NC State or equivalent) is desired
*Knowledge of the regulatory processes in the Mid-Atlantic region is desired
*GPS and GIS applications experience is desired
