Key Responsibilities

Support the wind turbine team during the execution of project

The individual will act as WTG Technical Lead within a team of engineers and project managers responsible for the implementation of the project Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA); supporting decision making on all activities from turbine design changes, manufacturing through assembly and offshore installation works until final hand over to operations team.

The individual will be working as part of the project execution team with activities in multiple locations across Europe and USA. The position will require travel to various locations within the USA and overseas with main focus in Denmark.

The WTG Technical Lead will provide the support to the Package Lead in the delivery of the package. The main responsibilities will be:
  • Manage technical aspects/requirements in the Turbine Supply Agreement, and technical interfaces with the supplier.
  • Lead a team of a Technical and Electrical Engineer
  • Lead/support interface design processes between the WTG package and other packages, e.g. tower/foundation, installation etc.
  • Represent the Project in front of the WTG supplier in technical forums.
  • Ensure the qualification and acceptance of design modifications in relation design.
  • To adhere to project program requirements.
  • Technical risks management.
  • Coordination of engineering resources (both internal and external) to address technical issues.
  • Recommend technical solutions or changes to the project management.
  • Advise WTG Quality Manager and WTG Package Manager on the impact of technical risks and propose solutions.
  • Contribute to establishment of quality assurance system with procedures and requirements for turbine acceptance and assist in the revision of quality documentation during the manufacturing and installation.
  • Liaise with external professionals who provide technical expertise and project support in evaluation of operational and performance issues.
  • Ensure that all recommendations are documented and sufficient due diligence exists to support decisions (whether internal or external diligence).
  • Lead and steer the Certification process between CVA and Turbine Supplier to secure WTG Certification for the project

Key Tasks
  • Reporting on progress to WTG Package Manager
  • Represent WTG package in technical meetings both internally and with the suppliers.
  • Coordinate technical communication exchanged with supplier
  • Ensure clarification of interfaces, internally towards other packages and towards Turbine Supplier
  • Monitor WTG design modifications proposals, and prepare reports assessing its suitability for the Project.
  • Ensure documentation reviews of quality dossiers provided by the turbine supplier
  • Review technical and contract documents and specifications.
  • Attend to the audits, inspections and First Article Inspection (FAI) for relevant WTG components, when needed
  • Ensure overview of non-conformities and evaluate recommended corrective actions.
  • Lead Turbine project certification Participate in technical workshops/meetings with the WTG supplier.

Key Competencies / Qualifications / Criteria
  • Educated to Degree level in mechanical engineering ,other engineering degrees, or similar.
  • 3 years of wind industry experience (WTG´s, offshore wind preferable), preferably with relation to US Market
  • Project Management qualification (PMP preferable) or equivalent experience.
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
  • Flexible to travel both in US and overseas.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of wind turbine technology.
  • Experience of offshore wind turbines and offshore windfarm construction/contracts
  • Good knowledge of industry standards and offshore regulations.
  • Experience of working and developing a team and delivering against targets and reporting.
  • Pro-active and diligent approach.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
