Site Manager – Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the construction and commissioning of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with the Project Manager, EPC Contractor, and client representatives, you will lead the day-to-day site operations from civil works through to energisation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all site construction activities throughout the BESS project lifecycle.

Ensure all works are executed in accordance with HSE regulations, project specifications, and quality standards.

Coordinate civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning contractors.

Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are achieved.

Review and approve RAMS, work permits, and construction methodologies.

Conduct daily site inspections and toolbox talks.

Manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures.

Coordinate site logistics, material deliveries, and equipment.

Chair daily and weekly construction meetings.

Produce progress reports and maintain accurate site documentation.

Liaise with clients, EPC contractors, utilities, and stakeholders.

Support commissioning, energisation, and project handover activities.

Ensure all punch-list items are completed before final handover.

Required Experience

Minimum 8–10 years' experience in construction site management.

Proven experience delivering Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Experience working on renewable energy or power infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of:

HV/LV electrical systems

Battery Energy Storage Systems

Civil construction

Electrical installation

Grid connection works

Experience managing multiple subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.

Previous experience working for EPC contractors or utilities.

Experience through construction, commissioning, energisation, and project close-out.

HV Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person experience is advantageous.
