Sales Manager, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Location: Japan, Tokyo

A global leader in renewable energy solutions is expanding its presence in Japan and is looking to appoint a Sales Manager, BESS to support the growth of its energy storage business in one of the region’s most strategic markets. This is a newly created role as part of ongoing investment and expansion in Japan, offering the opportunity to play a key role in building out a high-growth business unit within a globally established organisation.

 

The Opportunity

  • Join a well-capitalised, globally recognised energy player with a strong track record across solar and energy storage
  • Be part of a growing Japan team (Tokyo-based) with a mix of local and international expertise
  • Take ownership of front-end commercial activities in a market seeing strong demand for BESS solutions
  • Work closely with regional and global teams, gaining exposure to cross-border projects and stakeholders
  • Play a key role in shaping market entry and growth strategy for energy storage in Japan

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business development and sales activities for BESS solutions across Japan
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including utilities, developers, EPCs, and partners
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in line with market trends and customer needs
  • Lead client engagement, including presentations, proposals, and commercial negotiations
  • Collaborate with technical and internal teams to deliver tailored solutions to clients
  • Represent the company at industry events and strengthen brand presence in the market

 

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in energy storage (BESS), renewables, or a closely related sector
  • Strong understanding of BESS solutions and commercial applications
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or client-facing roles
  • Fluent Japanese (business level) is essential; English and/or Chinese is advantageous
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable working in a growing and evolving environment
