Location: Iceland

Start Date: 5th October 2026

Pay Rate: c£180,000 per annum

Commercial Director – Data Centre | Site-Based | Europe


We are supporting a leading data centre developer with the appointment of a Commercial Director for a major hyperscale data centre development.


Key responsibilities:


  • Provide senior commercial and contractual leadership across the full project lifecycle
  • Lead the commercial function from procurement and contract award through construction, commissioning, handover and final account
  • Administer and manage FIDIC and NEC-based contracts, including notices, variations, payments, claims, compensation events and determinations
  • Lead the assessment and negotiation of EOT, disruption, prolongation and acceleration claims
  • Protect the Employer’s commercial and contractual position throughout project delivery
  • Oversee cost management, forecasting, cash flow, risk, contingency and commercial reporting
  • Lead commercial negotiations with major contractors, consultants and supply chain partners
  • Develop and implement procurement and commercial strategies across major MEP, electrical, critical power, cooling and specialist packages
  • Establish robust commercial governance, change control and contract management processes
  • Work closely with project controls, planning, construction, commissioning, procurement, finance and legal teams
  • Lead the resolution of variations, claims, compensation events and commercial disputes
  • Oversee final account negotiations, project close-out and settlement of outstanding commercial matters
  • Provide senior commercial advice to the Project Director, development team and wider leadership


Key requirements:


  • 20–25+ years' commercial, contract management or quantity surveying experience
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Director, Senior Commercial Manager or Commercial Lead
  • Extensive practical experience administering FIDIC and/or NEC contracts
  • Strong track record managing claims, variations, EOT, compensation events, disruption and prolongation
  • Experience delivering major data centre, mission-critical, infrastructure, industrial or MEP-intensive projects
  • Strong understanding of MEP, critical power, cooling, electrical infrastructure and specialist systems
  • Experience managing high-value contracts and complex multi-contractor environments
  • Strong cost control, forecasting and financial management capability
  • Excellent contractual writing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Employer, developer, PMC, EPC contractor or major contractor background
  • MRICS, MCIOB, FIDIC certification or equivalent qualification desirable
  • Fluent English
  • Willingness to work site-based
