Electrical Commissioning & Retrofit Engineer/Technician Profile
Experience
5-10 years in hydropower, power plants, substations, or industrial automation projects.
Proven experience with brownfield retrofit or refurbishment projects.
Experience working on existing installations where as-built documentation may be incomplete or inconsistent.
Previous site experience in signal verification, marshalling cabinets, control systems, and commissioning activities.
Technical Skills
Reading and validating:
i. Wiring diagrams
ii. Interconnection diagrams
iii. Signal lists
iv. Terminal schedules
v. Cable schedules
vi. Electrical interlocking documentation
Knowledge of:
i. Unit Marshalling Cabinets (UMC)
ii. Local Control Panels (LCP)
iii. DCS/SCADA architectures
iv. Protection and control systems
v. Generator and turbine auxiliaries
Ability to perform:
i. Field cable tracing
ii. Signal checking
iii. I/O verification
iv. As-built documentation updates
v. Gap analysis between site installation and engineering documents
On-Site Responsibilities
Survey existing installation.
Verify wiring and terminal arrangements.
Identify missing, damaged, or obsolete components.
Validate existing signal paths from field devices to DCS.
Review electrical interlocking implementation.
Produce red-marked drawings and updated documentation.
Support preparation of a retain-and-upgrade strategy for the UMC.
Soft Skills
Strong troubleshooting capability.
Ability to work autonomously on site for extended periods.
Effective coordination with customer representatives, commissioning teams, DCS engineers, and EBoP engineers.
Good technical reporting and documentation skills.
