About the Role
Spencer Ogden is supporting a leading organisation within the energy storage and renewable energy sector in the search for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to support the development and optimisation of maintenance strategies for a growing fleet of energy storage assets across EMEA.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical and maintenance expertise with a structured, process-driven approach to develop maintenance plans, spare parts strategies, CMMS data structures and service processes that improve asset availability, reliability and commercial performance.
This is a predominantly remote position based in Germany, with approximately 5–10% travel required.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a strong understanding of energy storage technologies, platforms and equipment and translate this into effective maintenance strategies.
Develop and optimise maintenance plans, schedules and concepts using methodologies such as Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM).
Support the development of maintenance cost and pricing models for different service types and energy storage platforms.
Develop and maintain maintenance processes, procedures and technical documentation, ensuring these are effectively implemented across Services teams.
Develop spare parts strategies, including criticality assessments, required quantities and inventory requirements.
Ensure asset hierarchies, equipment structures and master data are accurately maintained within the CMMS.
Use maintenance KPIs, dashboards and performance data to identify cost, reliability and performance improvement opportunities.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance plans, processes and procedures.
Develop and optimise re-powering, augmentation and decommissioning strategies for energy storage assets.
Define and optimise maintenance scopes for subcontracted maintenance services.
Support Services teams with the implementation of maintenance standards, processes and technical requirements.
Ensure all operations and maintenance activities comply with applicable health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
Work closely with regional Services, Engineering, Operations and Sales teams to deliver maintenance solutions aligned with business objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 3 years’ relevant professional experience within the power, renewable energy, energy storage or BESS sector.
Proven experience in maintenance management and maintenance engineering.
Strong knowledge of CMMS platforms, maintenance planning and asset master data.
Experience developing maintenance strategies, schedules, procedures and spare parts plans.
Knowledge of Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) or similar maintenance optimisation methodologies is highly desirable.
Ability to analyse maintenance data and translate findings into practical improvements.
Good understanding of relevant German safety standards, codes and regulations.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical issues.
Highly structured and disciplined, with a strong process and continuous improvement mindset.
Excellent coordination and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Strong ownership, accountability and commercial awareness.
Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
