Key Account Director, Australia
Location: Australia (Flexible)
As part of the global commercial organisation, you will be responsible for developing and expanding relationships with a portfolio of strategic customers across the Australian market, driving business growth, increasing account penetration, and supporting the successful execution of large-scale renewable energy and energy storage projects.
Working closely with regional sales, technical, product, and executive leadership teams, you will play a critical role in identifying opportunities, aligning internal resources, and delivering long-term value to customers. This position also offers the opportunity to help shape and build the regional key account function over time.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic account plans for key customers in Australia, aligning commercial objectives with long-term business growth targets.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with developers, investors and other strategic stakeholders to strengthen market presence and identify new opportunities.
- Drive revenue growth and increase share-of-wallet within existing accounts through cross-selling, upselling, and expansion into new business segments.
- Lead commercial engagements, negotiations, and partnership discussions to secure new business opportunities and long-term framework agreements.
- Partner closely with sales, engineering, project delivery, and product teams to develop account strategies and ensure successful execution of customer initiatives.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer organisations, investment strategies, project pipelines, and procurement processes to proactively identify growth opportunities.
- Act as the voice of the customer internally, collaborating with technical, product, operations, and leadership teams to deliver solutions aligned with customer needs.
- Monitor market trends, policy developments, competitor activity, and market dynamics across Australia's energy transition landscape.
- Lead executive-level account reviews, business planning discussions, and customer governance processes to strengthen strategic partnerships and drive long-term value creation.
- Provide accurate forecasting, pipeline visibility, and market intelligence to support business planning and resource allocation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Energy, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of commercial experience within renewable energy, power, energy storage, or adjacent infrastructure sectors.
- At least 5 years of experience operating within a strategic key account, business development, or commercial leadership role.
- Strong understanding of Australia's utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage markets.
- Established network across developers, investors, utilities, EPCs, and infrastructure stakeholders in Australia.
- Proven ability to manage complex customer relationships and lead commercial negotiations.
- Experience working across multicultural and geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving revenue growth and strategic account expansion.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
