We are recruiting for an ambitious and rapidly growing Main Contractor delivering complex, high-value projects across the UK. Specialising in Data Centres, Defence, Mission Critical, and technically challenging construction environments, we are building a reputation for quality, innovation, and exceptional project delivery.


As our portfolio continues to expand, we are looking for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of MEP packages on some of the UK's most exciting and technically demanding projects.

The Role


As the Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager, you will take ownership of all MEP aspects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Working closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, Design Teams, Consultants, Supply Chain Partners, and Clients, you will provide technical leadership while managing the commercial and operational delivery of Mechanical and Electrical services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of Mechanical and Electrical packages on major construction projects.
  • Manage the full MEP lifecycle from design coordination through installation, commissioning and client handover.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, consultants and specialist supply chain partners.
  • Ensure compliance with programme, cost, quality and safety objectives.
  • Review and manage MEP design information, identifying risks, clashes and value engineering opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with BIM, Design and Construction teams to ensure coordinated delivery.
  • Chair MEP coordination meetings and drive project progress.
  • Monitor installation quality through inspections and technical reviews.
  • Manage commissioning activities, integrated systems testing and final handover documentation.
  • Support procurement activities and subcontractor selection.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and reporting.
  • Manage project risk, change control and technical queries.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Building Regulations, British Standards, Defence requirements and client specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement across project delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing Mechanical & Electrical packages for a Main Contractor or Tier 1/Tier 2 contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical building services across complex construction projects.
  • Experience delivering Data Centre, Defence, Mission Critical, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or other technically complex facilities.
  • Excellent understanding of commissioning, integrated systems testing and project handover.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage project budgets and change management.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to build lasting relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
  • Understanding of BIM processes and digital project delivery is advantageous.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • SMSTS.
  • CSCS Manager Card.
  • First Aid at Work (desirable).
  • Relevant professional membership (MCIBSE, MIET, IMechE or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Experience
  • 5+ years' experience delivering Mechanical & Electrical packages on major construction projects.
  • Experience working within live or highly regulated environments.
  • Previous experience on projects valued between £20m and £250m+ is advantageous.
