Spencer Ogden is recruiting for an experienced Project Buyer to join a leading international organisation delivering major High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) Substation EPC projects across Europe and globally.


This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional with experience in EPC, power transmission, renewable energy or heavy industrial projects to play a key role in the successful delivery of critical grid infrastructure projects supporting the energy transition.


Working within an international project environment, you'll be responsible for the full procurement lifecycle of major equipment and service packages, from sourcing strategy and supplier selection through to contract management and project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

Project Procurement

Take ownership of procurement packages valued above €50k, managing the complete procurement lifecycle.

Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project requirements and business objectives.

Prepare and manage international RFQs and competitive tender processes.

Evaluate supplier proposals considering technical capability, commercial competitiveness, delivery schedules and project risk.

Award contracts and manage purchase orders through to completion.

Supplier Management

Build and manage relationships with suppliers across Europe, China and India.

Identify, qualify and onboard new suppliers for EPC substation projects.

Conduct supplier assessments and support audit activities.

Drive supplier performance, quality improvements and recovery plans where required.

Monitor market trends, raw material pricing and supply chain risks.

Commercial & Contract Management

Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, delivery milestones, warranties, payment terms and contractual conditions.

Manage supplier contracts throughout project execution.

Coordinate Letters of Credit and international payment processes.

Ensure compliance with procurement governance and approval processes.

Project Delivery

Monitor supplier manufacturing progress and service execution.

Coordinate closely with Engineering, Project Management, Logistics and Construction teams.

Track supplier performance against cost, quality and delivery KPIs.

Attend project reviews, procurement meetings and stakeholder updates.

Support successful on-time project delivery while protecting project margins.

Risk & Claims

Identify procurement and commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Manage supplier variations, contractual claims and dispute resolution.

Maintain procurement documentation and contractual records.

Support recovery actions in collaboration with project stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

Essential

Master's degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline.

2–4 years' experience within project procurement, ideally in EPC, energy, utilities, construction or industrial environments.

Experience managing international suppliers and tendering processes.

Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills.

Knowledge of procurement strategy, supplier management and cost analysis.

Professional proficiency in English.

Desirable

Experience within HV/EHV substations, transmission or power infrastructure projects.

Knowledge of Incoterms and international procurement.

Experience using SAP, SRM or equivalent ERP systems.

Exposure to renewable energy or grid infrastructure projects.

Continuous improvement mindset and experience working in international project teams.

You are commercially minded, highly organised and confident managing multiple stakeholders across international teams. With strong negotiation skills and attention to detail, you're motivated by delivering value while ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
