Project Geologist / Environmental Scientist – Environmental Remediation

We’re partnering with a growing environmental consulting firm looking to add a Project Geologist or Environmental Scientist to its Seattle-area team.

This position will support complex environmental investigation and remediation projects at federal and Department of Defense facilities across Washington and Alaska, with a particular focus on CERCLA, RCRA, USTs, contaminated sites, groundwater, and soil investigations.

The position offers a combination of field work, technical reporting, project coordination, and client/regulatory interaction, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects from investigation through remediation and long-term monitoring.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support CERCLA, RCRA and UST investigations and remediation projects

• Perform groundwater, soil, and soil-gas sampling and field investigations

• Support Preliminary Assessments, Site Inspections, Remedial Investigations, and Feasibility Studies

• Assist with Proposed Plans, Records of Decision, and other environmental planning and regulatory documents

• Log soil borings and oversee installation of groundwater monitoring wells using various drilling methods

• Support monitoring well abandonment/decommissioning in accordance with applicable regulations

• Describe and classify soils using USCS and ASTM standards

• Oversee subcontractors performing drilling, sampling, and other field activities

• Support long-term groundwater and environmental monitoring programs

• Analyze environmental data and prepare figures, tables, and technical reports

• Support remediation systems, including operation, sampling, and monitoring where applicable

• Work closely with clients, regulators, engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately 7–12 years of environmental consulting, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Geoscience, or a related discipline

• Strong contaminated-site investigation and remediation experience

• Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, USTs, groundwater, soil, or environmental restoration projects

• Experience with environmental field investigations, drilling oversight, and monitoring well installation

• Strong technical writing, data interpretation, and reporting skills

• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating field activities

• Project management experience is highly desirable

• Federal, DoD, NAVFAC, USACE, or other government environmental project experience is a plus

• Washington Licensed Geologist registration is preferred but not required

• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training is preferred

Location & Working Arrangement

This is a hybrid position based in the Seattle area, with a combination of office and remote work. Candidates elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest may also be considered depending on experience.

Periodic travel will be required to support project sites throughout Washington and Alaska, including occasional field assignments lasting approximately one to two weeks.
